Hello everybody, I just started playing Arcanum and I find it a cool game so far. But unfortunatly I have a problem that really frustrates me; I cant figure out how to walk on the worldmap and how to zoom in on it. I had a zoomed in worldmap on which I could walk from the crashsite (after finding the bandit) to the farm of the priest. I could see different places (i.e. town, crashsite and farm) clearly and could just click on the farm to go there really quick. After visiting the farm I could return this way to the crashsite again, but now I cant manage to get this screen back and walk the quick way over he land. If anyone could help me out, I would be very thankful!
In most places you can only use the local map and not the world one. If you're at the crash site, you should walk outside it, until the map icon on top of your screen (you know, where you click to see the map) turns blue.
Ok, firstly, in the future questions like this should go in the hints and tips As for your question, you must find an area that leads to the world map. For instance, in the crashsite it's to the east, in that place where you met the evil elf guy. Normally just go to oone of the corners of town to get the world map. In shrouded hills though you have to take the bridge.
thank you for the replies yes Mr Wolf, after posting here I saw that the hints&tips forum was actually more an appropiate place to post such a question. I'll remember to use that one next time (as undoubtly more newby questions are soon to come). Thanks to the quick and clear replies from Trobs and Some Strange Man and the posts here, I fully understand it now. You can trigger the map walking by going to certain parts of the place you currently are, the map icon will become a blue globe then. thank you!
First off Jorrit, welcome to the forum! Second, and I'm not sayiing this abuot this question in particular, but just so you know, before you ask a question, it can be good idea to search old posts in hintsntips to see if it's been answered already. People around here have this nasty habit of flaming people who ask a question that's been answered hundreds of times. If you don't find an answer, feel free to create a new topic and ask your question. And don't resurrect an old thread to do it, which also annoys people, just do like you did and ask the question. I don't want you to be scared off. These folks are plenty helpful as long as you play by their rules. That said, enjoy your newfound great game and this forum (partially) dedicated to that great game!
