Yo, Milo, thanks for showing me that host.sk! I registered an account for Vendigroth, but it is somewhat hard to edit and understand because the startup files are .php. I cant figure out how to edit them. Can you help?

Sorry, can't help and this post is just my crusade for pushing gravedigged threads down where they belong.

No, but by spamming all the new threads, then he pushes all the old ones off the first page!

I prefer to call it crusading rather than spamming.

The fact remains that you are posting many, many useless messages. You might be crusading, but I'm on a crusade of sorts to stop spamming and gravedigging. Sometimes, it means I come off like I'm spamming or gravedigging, BUT I'M CRUSADING!

Like you don't - if I were a spammer I'd have much a higher post count don't you think?

Plus these two posts (second one in Rollerball thread) are the only ones that I made for no other purpose than pushing the digged ones down.

Which startup files are you talking about? The ones for phpBB?

I have a high count because I post regularly, but I also only post when I have something useful to say. Or a point to make. On any given time when I trawl the board I won't post in half the topics I read.

No, I mean the ones that host.sk gives you to start out with. It gives you 404.php and default_page.php (or something like that). Nother problem - It wont let me submit my music to the site. Is it too big to submit (is it exceeding the maximum file size) or am I submitting it the wrong way? I tried submitting it in binary. Should I submit it in ASCII?

    EDIT: ASCII doesnt work either.

Music should be in binary. Rule of thumb is everything except for text and scripts should be in binary. What format is your music in? If it's mp3, then I'm not surprised you can't upload it. Alot of free hosts don't allow mp3 hosting. If it's a wav file, then maybe you're file size is too big. I can't tell you what the file size restrictions are because I can't read any of the host.sk site.

As for the host.sk files, I don't know. I never even made it that far. The 404.php is probably the "file not found" page, and default_page.php is probably the index.

That's just fine and dandy. The problem is that I cant edit the 404.php or default_page.php files. Also, the .wav file I want to upload is only around 700kb. That is MESSED UP! Know of any better hosts?

Are you sure? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Download the file to your computer, MAKE A BACKUP, open it up in a text editor like Notepad and mess with it all you want. Upload the edited files, replace the old ones, et voila.

Hahaha, yeah there's better hosts... The ones you pay for. You mentioned in your other thread that you're willing to spend $10/month. That's $120/year. You can find some really good hosting for that much dough. The ones I was suggesting earlier were of the really cheap variety. Like $10-$25 yearly.

Me too though with small brakes during exam session.

Add remarks to that list and you'll have my posting profile.

Well, as for downloading, editing, and then uploading, when I downloaded them they caused an error and showed up as 0kb. I tried to edit them, but notepad showed them as empty.

Also, could you re-post those $10/year places again, please?

EDIT: Sorry, now I read the stuff you posted on the other thread. Ignore that question above.

    I don't know what's up there...

Maybe there's something that's not configured correctly in your FTP client.

Those are just a couple. Check around www.webhostingtalk.com forums for more affordable hosts. That's also a good place to get info on hosts that you're considering, including the ones I listed above. They had decent reputations the last time I checked, but that was a while ago. They could've gotten shitty since then. That's always something to consider with these hosts that are overselling their own bandwidth by a large margin.

BTW, WebHostingTalk is also a good place to check out domain name registrars. You know, find out which ones have good service/fair prices, and those that you should watch out for.
