Vendigroth Ruins (Please Help Me!)

Okay, so I've almost finished the game for the first time, after uninstalling it through frustration with the horrible lag I get in Vendigroth (it took me 30min to find the first building on the right). Anyway, as I don't want to spend 8hrs exploring one area, could someone please give me step-by-step directions to the Vendigroth Device from where you first appear when entering the ruins. BTW, I have no tech aptitude, so it doesn't matter if I miss all the fancy guns, etc. Thanks!

 

Go to http://www.gamefaqs.com one of the walkthroughs has a map of the city

 

Do the Evil thing / take a detour. Go through the dungeon in Dernholm (?) and free a certain hobbit there. He'll give you a map of the ruins.

 

I only had slowdown on the surface and that went away when I killed all those little Arachnix kiddies and spiders.
