I bought than book on understanding Islam. I than not than Muslum but it seem like most of the history taugh in America Hight School and Collega for than long time left out huge gap of history.

Here is than Quotes from than Supreme Court Justice.
"I hope that in the next century we will come to terms with our abysmal ignorance of the Muslim world. Muslims aren't a bunch of wackos and nuts. They are decent , brillant, talented people with a great civilization and tradittions of their own, including legal traditions. Americans know nothing about them. There are people in that part of the world with whom we are simply out of touch. That 's a great challenge for the next century."
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, December 1999.

Most Muslims are hightly insult by the bias coverly by Western Media which
doesnot report what religion most criminal beleive in except when it come to Islam. When the bombing of the Federal Office builting happen in Oklahoma City happen our supid and dumb bias FBI and Media was blameing Muslims as the responsible party, Several mosques were burnt down, Muslim home were vandalized. Did our evil FBI and Media apologize to the Muslim no course not.

I'm glad all Muslims are brilliant talented people. It must be nice not to suffer the usual human frailties and faults.

I can't help but wonder how open minded some Islamic states are about understanding the value of other cultures and religions. I wonder if their media has any knd of bias in it?

Not that the biggotry of others is an excuse for us to be biggoted. I think it's admirable that you are trying to treat all cultures fairly and not adopting a bias position for or agaisnt particular ones.

Yes, there are a lot of stereotypes against the Islamic world. My AP History class just got back from a tour at a local mosque and the Imam (priest) talked to us about Islam in the modern world. They see themselves as a blend of Christianity and Judaism with a little more, a finished ending. It is very interesting.

Yes, some Muslims are brilliants, talented people, just like some Americans are. However, you make the point that Americans are biased against Muslims without the flip side of that. Of couse, some Americans are biased against Muslims. Some Muslims are biased against Americans too. You should look at both sides, as both sides are at fault. Anyway, I don't like the FBI, but I wouldn't call the press "evil." Muslim presses run articles about how horrible we are, so it isn't like only American news sources do things you seem to consider "evil."

In El Paso Texas we have only one newpaper in than city that have 1 million people. In Pakistian there are many more newpapers which I lead online. Also the letter to the editor doesnot count, as if even the editor doesnot have
to agree with the writer to print it. Muslim world was free from Western Control where the western power oppress the free practive of Islam. But the
Western power today are so afraid of than future Islamic Superstate which will happen in the future. Islam never have than build in racist writeing compare to some other religion writeing. Than explane wiill be most Christian funt. still believe that Christ have blonde hair and blue eyes which he mostly likely dinot have. In the book I than reading state that Muhammad taught an reveal from God. Accorting to Muhammad "there is no superiority of a white over a black or a black over a white. All of you are the children of Adam and Adam was make from dust.
All the Koran state that whole univers. was make by God which is outside of space and time who alway exist and will exist. Than suddern energy bust appear as than blinding light which create the whole Univers..
Which is the big bang of our scientist.

I have no intention of trying to wade through all that CharlesBHoff-ese, but I think it can be summed up:

    Christians are raving, bible-thumping lunatics.
    Muslims are raving, Qu'ran-thumping lunatics.

I think that covers things in a fair and equitable fashion. Religion, sheesh. I prefer new ligion, not re-ligion. I don't want it all chewed up and pre-digested like the masses who can't think for themselves.

Islam is no better or worse than Christianity. Neither is worth the ink their books are printed with...

    You forgot:

"New ligionians" are raving, chest-thumping lunatics.

    "fair and equitable", indeed.

Just because theologians have for years being studying religion and conveying their teaching to the people doesn't make the doctrine "predigested"; the believers people who can't "think for themselves". Using your brilliant line of reasoning I could argue that school subjects are "predigested" and students people who"can't think for themselves".

Perhaps, but you'll not see me killing people in the name of my chest :p

What an amusing way of sugar-coating what should say "Just because theologians have for years been shoving their heads up their own asses and then proudly proclaiming their findings..."

In many cases, that's exactly true. In other cases: if those students were ostracized (or worse) for taking a different interpretation of the subject matter, then it would be true for those as well.

I live in Adelaide, we used to have 2. The Advertiser and the News. The News folded years ago (more like eons, actually). So now we have 1 mainstream newspaper for 1 million people. This doesn't include all the free newspaper magazines, council messenger newspapers and so on.

Pakistan has a population higher than 1 million. Considerably higher, in fact. So they have the ability to support more than 1 mainstream newspaper. Also, online newspapers don't count for much. In some instances they are hosted outside of the country which they report from, to avoid censorship or just for cost reasons. In other cases, you'll find they've got nothing to do wih the country they're reporting about. Ex-pats from the country having moved overseas and offering an online account of what's going on back home.

Of course, Pakistan isn't as censored as other Middle Eastern states. Especially in ciscumstances where ALL media outlets in the country are owned and run by the government or in cases where they aren't, printing something anti-government can reuslt in the paper being shutdown or journalists being arrested.

    Like-wise in most countries newspapers.

In what ways are the practices of Islam being oppressed? Give me an example. Either in your country, or in Australia (where I am). How/what practices are we stopping?

Why do you make this claim? What evidence do you have to back it up?

If I understand this, you mean some Christian fundamentalists. Not all of them. Also, they don't count for the entire population. The same way one group of Muslims actions don't count for every Muslim in the world. Not every group believes the same thing. In both cases, various groups believe it is their right/need to spread the word of their religion and convert as many people as possible to their way of life and their views. Not everyone believes that however. Being the prime example, Osama Bin Laden has the belief that all the infidels and non-believers must die/be converted. Like-wise for people like Jack Chick. Where-as others believe that "For me is my religion, for you is yours."

I read something somewhere once that said something along the lines of:
    We are all jeffzero.

On a side-note, we now have the Jack Chick web-site of the Muslim world:

I read half of this article. What can I say? I was bored.

    To paraphrase:

"Modern science has completely disproved Darwinism and the theory of evolution. The first blow to atheistic science was struck with the discovery that the universe hadn't been around forever; it was scientifically proven that it was created from nothing. Atheistic thought is dying out, because modern science has proven that there is, indeed, a God."

It took them far, far too many words to say that in, especially considering that they keep alluding to a scientific proof without actually describing it or its authors.
This is exactly why I distrust organized religion - articles like this one mislead you into believing they've proven something without actually going past the line that seperates honesty and the phrase "I read somewhere once that..."

You can thank them for the number system we use today, and for a lot of mathematical work they accomplished. The Chinese may have had the abbacus (1 or 2 b's, I can't remember), but the Muslims were probably better thinkers. Had a little Golden Age at some point I believe. Maybe not as well-known as the Greeks, but hey, it was there and they got a lot done.

As states, usually not much. As individuals, quite a few, depending on which sect of Islam you're talking about. Generally, the more educated, the more open-minded. I know that Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are pretty open-minded. At least they'll sell non-Muslims alcohol there, and they let women drive and things like that.

I have a friend who either wrote this himself, or quoted it off someone I don't know "Why do we live in a world of hate instead of a world of peace and loving?" or something like that. I always tell him it's human nature. Someone, somewhere, is going to be bigoted, or hate some(one/thing) for an irrational reason.

I liked the Romans better than the Greeks anyway. Ha. I laugh in your face. -cough- Sorry. Actually, the Muslims didn't invent the zero, even though a lot of people say they did. The zero was invented by the Indians, and brought back by the Muslim traders. I know you didn't specifically say that, but I know that people do say that.

Gosh, retard, that was good. I couldn't figure out whether you were insulting me or Luchaire, or both of us, or none of us.

Hey, I thought no one could invent the zero... Nah, he's right.

    Dear Mr Politician,

Once again in South Australia, we are confronted with yet another attempt to introduce euthanasia in this State. Here in Australia, we are in a unique situation where we can benefit from learning from the mistakes made in other countries.

It was horrific to know of the results in Holland, where euthanasia has been operating for some time. It would appear that there are many more dangers in the proposed "Dying with Dignity" Bill now before Parliament.

I can remember when "Abortion" was first debated. We were told the operation would only be performed if and when the life of the expectant mother was in serious danger. Remember?

Well, currently we appear to have more concern for sharks, and native animals than for human Austraian babies, who are, as everyone knows, are being murdered before birth by the thousands. What kind of future is being created for us Aussies?

Here in Australia, we have been very blessed all through our short history. Have you ever wondered just how we, a young nation with a small population compared with other countries, have been able to respond so often and very quickly and generously to tragedies in other places, with aid of all descriptions as required? The answer is in the love of Almighty God.

However, while God is Love, HE is also holy and righteous. There have been many laws passed here during the lat decade or so, the subjects of which are an abomination to a Holy God. (I do not think I have to spell them out.)

Time will prove whether I am correct in thinking that the present Australia-wide drought is a judgement from the Lod (sic). We are all going to be affected by it, and there is a limit to even God's patience, with us as a people because of our sin. I urge you as one who has been given power to do what is right, to consider very carefully the long term effects of your vote re this currently proposed legislation.

    Yours Sincerely
    Mrs. Name of Writer

Multiply that by 10 or so and you get what I have to read every day. They're all the same, nothing new. No rhyme or reason other than "God says".
