Does having a follower with evil alighment (Vollinger, Torian Kel or anyone wearing the Dark Helm) have an effect on your own alighment or on people's reaction towards you? Does putting Dread Armor on your followers reduce people's reaction?
Also, I avoided using Dread Armor so far. It has high armor class but almost no resistances. Is it worth using in combat?

Oh, the Dread Armor! That thing is great, I also didn't like the lack of physical defense! But when I started wearing it almost nobody could hit me... it seems it's the AC that prevents you from being hit (the Dread armor is the armor with the highest AC in the game, of course if you're magical).

And, for what I know, what your followers wear or are doesn't affect you. The only kind of thing that affects you, even if the followers do it is, when they kill a good NPC, the alignment that will go down will be yours.

Having followers of a certain alignment increases your standing with other people of the same alignment and decreases your standing with people of the opposite alignment. So if you have a lot of evil followers then the majority of people won't like you as much, the really good people will not like you at all, but the scum of Arcanum will like you more.

Personally I never used Dread armour. It drastically decreases your reaction rating (and also your beauty?). Equipping it on a follower has a small effect, but not much, unless that follower has an effect anyway. In which case, it drastically makes them less popular. For instance, if you went into a town with Torien Kell, people don't like it, but if you went into a town with him in dread armour then some people will attack on sight.

At least, that is what I've found every time I've played the game. I haven't looked at any of the game code or anything.

So change from Dread Armor into your Elegant dress before going into town.

What followers wear does not change the reactions of the townsfolk, but I like to put everyone in town clothes for towns anyway. After a cretan level, I don't put armor on for overland travel, I juat make sure to have a few loaves of bread & bottles of wine on hand for a picnic.

    I think ferret is wrong.

All of my followers have been naked and no one in town seemed to care. As well as having extremely good and bad characters/followers, I don't think it makes ANY difference.

Just saying what I've found. Most followers don't seem to matter, but some do and if you equip those followers with barbarian-type armours (or no armour at all :-o ) then it reduces the reaction even further.
