I've started several characters now and finished the game a few times, but I have yet to find two quests that I have run across. I'm curious about who these people are and just how you get their quests. 1. How do you get the quest to find Grandpa Fender in Shrouded Hills? I know that he is lost and you have to find him, but who do you get the quest to find him from and how do you get it? 2. Who is Mrs Randolph and how do you get her to give you the quest "to retrieve an ancient tome said to be lost in the caverns east of town." I'm not even sure which town this refers to, so where is she located? I like to do ALL of the quests that I possibly can in a game, so it's bugging me that I have never encountered these. Are they only available to certain types or races?
It's been several days since I posted this, but no one has said anything. What's up guys? Doesn't anyone out there know anything about these quests???
Well, obviously not. :roll: I did actually do a search through the relevant game files though. I couldn't find anyone with a name even vaguely similar to Mrs Randolph. There are two characters called Milly Fender and Grampy Fender, but I couldn't find any dialogue file that might be associated with them, so it could be that they were not implemented in the game. On top of that, as you've seen, nobody here has heard of such quests, so I'm just about ready to write them off as so much cock and bull. While I'm answering though, I've got to know: How could you have run across these quests if you have yet to find them???
They are both in the gamequestlog.mes file from Arcanum.dat, if you extract it and look at it. 1. I've been looking at a lot of the game files to find out about other things and ran across these, but had never seen them while playing the game. So I was wondering if anyone else knew anything about them or had ever seen them in the game while playing it. Does that explain satisfactorily how I found them without ever running across them? 8)
