Shit, I'd love to see LotR with modern weapons as well. Drive bys with flamethrowers under a mountain would rule.

    I think Frodo would've had a Derringer.
And Dwarves would be armed with machine guns. SAW, anyone?

Well than fuck floyd. And fuck you anyway.
When I finish one of the novels set in the modern era of my original fantasy world, I'll send you a free, autographed copy. It ain't LotR (not by a long shot), but it's the closest you're going to get to LotR with modern weapons. By ain't LotR I mean it's different enough to be original, as well as the obvious that few can measure up to Tolkien's genius.
Since this is modern weapons we're talking about, it'd have to be a Hi-Standard Derringer, which is a great weapon. The 22. Magnum cartridge is a little beast. But it wouldn't be so good for large-scale battles, so that's why Frodo should be "riding shotgun" so to speak with the M2. Hell, a 40mm Vulcan rotary autocannon would be pretty nice too.

I look forward to the day it arrives in the mail ;).

Fuck that, Frodo should be riding shotgun with a fucking laser cannon (in for a penny, in for a pound as the English say).

The sooner Frodo dies, the better. I like sad endings. Mwahahah!

*Sigh* we all need Fallout 3... Fucking Inept-play

Don't worry, with Interplay going to the shits already, you can expect they will sell their licenses. THEN is when you start praying that Troika gets the license and not Feargus.

Tactics got boring when I started creating my custom chars and adding them to the game.

Also, on a completely unrelated matter, is Sea Dog's avatar related to Machine from 8mm? He does look like George Costanza with a leather mask.

Sadly, no. It's some kinky looking fat man with an executioner's mask from ToEE.

    Fallout.
    Fallout 2.
    Arcanum.
    Temple of Elemental Evil.
    Silent Storm.
    Jagged Alliance 2.
    The Avernum series.
    The Geneforge series.

I would recommend Fallout: Tactics, but its a poor game as far as i'm concerned.

    Wasteland is phase-based, not turn-based.

I am thinking about ToEE so here's a question (as many people here despise BG).

Baldur's Gate 2 or Temple of Elemental Evil?

I was wondering when you were going to get around to the subject.

BG2. It's not that I particularly like BG2, but I just couldn't get into ToEE. I liked the combat and whatnot, but I quickly became tired and bored of it. In the end I simply derived more enjoyment from BG2, in spite of its faults.

Spent $50 on that damn thing too. Beyond Divinity was $20 cheaper and I got more pleasure out of the first act than from all of ToEE.

Actually, Canis, I already asked about BG2. Some did like it.

So can you say ToEE is a turn-based, slower diablo?

    You did? Huh.

I can say any number of things but they wouldn't necessarily be well informed: I've never played Diablo. ToEE did actually have more roleplaying opportunities than BG2; I just couldn't bring myself to care about any of them. There were some rather bothersome bugs and cumbersome game features (like the way followers worked) as well which impeded the fun factor for me. Besides, by the time it came out I was sick to death of Dungeons & Dragons. Suppose that didn't help much.

Yes, most of the times its easier to just kill that followers to stop them from getting your loot.

ToEE is a really good game if you're just looking for a dungeon crawler. It has an excellent combat system, many fights, ample loot and a decent challenge. You also won't find your party getting overpowered either.

    Then I might try it.
Though I am running a P3 666mhz and a Geforce 2 GTS so that's a bit under the minimum reqs.

Then don't try. Most troika games have slowdown problems. And thats with a decent rig.
