Let's go back to the previous avatar system while we're at it.

Nah, that would fuck up more things than it's worth.

Making the old avatars available through the galleries however wouldn't.

...would be a great idea. The older members (supporters of the first system among them) would at least have the satisfaction that those avatars are out there, somewhere, while the newer ones would have a chance to see a heritage of the old times. I, myself, was always curious how did the Ageless Blade and Magick Flying Blade look like.

    No.

If we bring them back we do it right. Its rank avatars or not at all.

You just want to demote everyone to railroad spikes.

Well not everyone, the triumvirate would maintain its avatars.

You are covered by the Vorak's Whim clause.

Need I remind you that custom avatars were around back in the rail road spike days as well?

As I said, I do not think that we could revert back to the old system without wreaking major havoc on the forum and its userbase. People are used to picking their own avatars and to be honest, it makes the identification process run that much smoother. In lieu of a striking signature one could easily confuse one Ornate Flintlock to another. Yes, I know that is perfectly within my capabilities to read and look for the moniker in the left field, but you know what I am getting at here.

I also do not remember all the old ranks and their exact post count thresholds.

However, putting the old avatars into a gallery labeled "Classic" or something similar seems perfectly reasonable.

The old ranks are still there and in use, it's just their images that have been disabled.

Would such a thing be retroactive? I have an acount dating back to 02 or so (can't remember), I simply forgot the password.

I like the current avatar system. It makes posting worthwhile. Besides, it's nice to be able to discuss the permanent branding of a person based on our preconceived notions of their personality.
