:-x I've been playing Arcanum for a while now but I'm getting a little frustrated because so far I have not been able to figure out or find the meaning for the TH(+3) for example that appears on some weapons. Can someone please tell me? :-(
TH means "chance to hit". When you see TH+20 on a Looking Glass Rifle, it means that you're more likely to hit your target with this weapon than with a Hand Cannon that has no TH bonus, or with your favourite rusty revolver with a negative TH.
Speaking of.. I found a pair of gauntlets called Baneful Gauntlets. Apart from the bonuses to DR, ER and the like, you also go PR-100%, Poison and FT DOT. What on earth is DOT? -Stuart
My guess is that DOT means "Damage Over Time"- as long as you're wearing Baneful Gauntlents, you receive a fixed ammount of poison and FT damage every few seconds.
You may not like it, but it's quite handy to drop them on the ground near an NPC who, say you want out of the way but don't want to kill, and before you can count all the pixels of grass on your screen, the guy's dead.
One time, I was able to count all the grass pixels on the screen and the ill-fated finder of the Guantlets was still breathing. I seem to remember that they had some sort of healing skill. Also, I built a character with 20+ constitution and while the bonus for a constitution of 20 is allegedly "immunity to poison" the Gauntlets were able to slay me after I counted all the grass pixels on the screen twice.
