It's very strange.. I was wandering about in the Vendigroth Ruins with FOUR followers.. Then I entered a "velt" (I can't remember what it was called, and I'm from Denmark, so sorry), and then I came into a room with some kind of very big altar.! But I noticed that one of my follwers sudenly was missing (Virgil.!), and can't get out of the room again... I can't go through the thing witch I came through, I can't Teleport out and I can't enter the wierd building in the room either.! The game shuts down when I try to do one of these things.!! What happended here.?! And why does I die when I step up in the altar.?!
You are having the absolute worst luck.......... In English the velt is called vent. As for Virgil, and you getting trapped in the room, did you uninstall the old game, then reinstall and patch? If so, then you should not be having this problem. The doors at either end of the room are simple teleports, and there's no reason why Virgil should suddenly leave. Unless..... By chance are you trying to add a handful of hacks to the game? Say the cargo hold, dark magic hack, and one or two others? Often combining several of those can cause problems. Beyond that, I'm at a loss. The big altar is the Altar of Velorien - The Father of All (the gods). If you step onto the altar without doing the God's quest properly, it will kill you. As for how to do the quest, you study the diagram at the university at Tarant. The one with the gods and the overlapping circles. Make all the offerings in the right order and you'll get notices that you've completed the first circle, second circle, etc. When you've done them all go to Vendigroth, step onto the altar, and Velorien will first kill you, then revive you with some bonuses. It's been too long since I've done the God's Quest to be of much more help than that. Sorry.
Wich circle do I start with.? As for the problem with the room: I've learned from my mistakes - I saved when I was in Tulla : ) Without Virgil, though, but I just went and get him. What is hacks.? And no, I didn't uninstall the game, because I got Virgil back, so I didn't think it would matter anymore (man, was I wrong)... Can you explain to me HOW to get the "patch" - wich I can't remember what was - and HOW to install it.? I meen, is it the "patch"-thing you reinstall.? Man, what happend to the simple life.?
You start with the First Circle -- the one beginning with Ter'el at Falcon's Ache. Hacks are, well, cheats in a way. Or mods, if you prefer. This is just a random thought, but concerning your initial trouble with the missing Virgil -- could it be possible that he somehow stepped onto the Altar and got killed by Velorien?
No, he didn't even make throuhg the.. What did you call it.? Vent.? He didn't make it through that...
If you're interested in doing the gods quest after figuring your way out of Vendigroth, here's the proper order: First Circle; Ter’el, Makaal, Alberich, Geshtianna, and then Halcyon Second Circle; Torg, Bolo, Kerlin, Shakar, and then Moorindal Third Circle; Alberich, Makaal, Kerlin, Bolo, and then Kaitan Then walk onto the altar in Vendigroth and you recieve the final blessing. However, upon further looking through you current problem, I think your best bet is to either A: Try again from an earlier save (before you go through the vent), or B: Start over completely. But, I'm not quite sure if you're playing a patched game or an un-patched game. Also, did you at any point before entering the vent tell Virgil to wait?
I just copied this from your earlier thread - "Virgil's stuck in the trees". A patch is a bit of software that is added to the game to correct one or more known problems. The patch for Arcanum can be found here in the download section. Choose the one for the language you are playing: German? (I can't remember for certain!) http://www.terra-arcanum.com/downloads/ ... e_1074.exe English http://www.terra-arcanum.com/downloads/ ... n_1074.exe French http://www.terra-arcanum.com/downloads/ ... r_1074.exe After you install a new game, download the proper patch into your main Sierra/Arcanum folder, then double-click on the 1074.exe and it will add what's needed to patch the game. Note: do not try to patch a game in progress! Start fresh.
Just a question about the Gods Quest, okay.? When I make offerings to the Gods, is it then normal that the blessings in my "notebook" replace each other.?
Each time you finish one circle (make the offerings to the major gods Halcyon, Moorindal, and Kaitan) you lose the separate blessings from the previous minor deities in that circle. When you finally make the offering to Velorien, you will lose the blessings you got from the three major gods. So, in short: yes, it's normal.
So, let me see if I've got this rigth...: First I'll go a Li'Tani to Ter'el A Heartstone to Makaal A Lava Rock to Alberich A Passion Root for Geshtianna and then a Olive Tree Branch for Halycon.? Then I go to the next circle: A Ruby for Torg A Ring for Bolo A Mnura Coin for Kerlin A Kite Sword for Shakar in Kree And a Black Diamond for Moorindal Third circle: Lava Rock Heartstone Mnura Coin Ring Geode and then my life at last. *************************************** What I don't understand is: When I go give a Li'Tani to Ter'el I get a blessing, then I go to Makaal and give him a Heartstone and get a blessing from him too - should the blessing from Ter'el disappear so there's only the blessing from Makaal.? And where do I find a Olive Branch in the Wheel Clan Mines.?
No. You get the blessing from Ter'el (#1), then add the blessing from Makaal (#2), then the one from Alberich (#3), and lastly the one from Geshtianna (#4). Only when you then finish that (first) circle with an offering to Halcyon do the four previous blessings (#1-4) go away to be replaced with Halcyon's blessing. You then keep Halcyon's blessing for the rest of the game, or rather until you make the offering to Velorien. It is the same for the other two circles: collect the four "minor blessings" and sort of exchange them for the "major blessing" at the end of the circle. This leaves you with the three blessings of the major gods, which in turn will be replaced by the final blessing of Velorien. (Note that you can stop at any point if you don't want to lose blessings. Say you only want the first four -- in that case don't make the offering to Halcyon and just end the God's Quest.) Did that make any sense?
Yes, thanks - but why does my blessing disappeare then.? Could it be because I wasn't aware of the so called "Gods Quest" when I started playing and just made offerings to everyone so it all got mixed up.?
I guess it could be because you did things in the wrong order. In my first game (I think it was) I found the altar to Torg and put a handy ruby there and got the blessing. Later I went to Stillwater and did the offering to Geshtianna, at which point I was cursed by her. So, in a rambling way, I'm suggesting that perhaps there's a curse mentioned in your journal. (Though, come to think of it, I don't think I was patched in my first dozen or so games.)
