When you play Arcanum, do you cheat? If so, how often, and how blatantly? My current run-through, I'm reprising my role as the female elf Everything Compatable With Technology character. Needless to say, this has involved a considerable amount of cheating. Essentially what I did was I used the ArcanumEdit program to keep giving my character 50 character points, spending them until I had high firearms/pick lock/pickpocket/spot traps/disarm traps/persuasion, every learnable schematic in the game, and maxxed stats. Then I simply raised everything else with character points. And further, I cheat by using the program to "transmute" schematics. Every time I find a dupe schematic, I change it in the editor, and re-learn it. How do you guys roll?
I use the break level cap hack, so when I kill stuff late in the game (Kerghan's Castle), then I just keep levelling up. 156 CP is way more then I'll ever want/need.
I abused the Dark Helm a bit to give Virgil, Geoffrey and my half ogre much higher magickal aptitude. And I reload whenever I damn well please. But I think that's as far as I'll go.
If there's a schematic I really want/need, but can't find it anywhere, I'll edit my learned schematics to turn one that I never use into one that I really want. If I end up needing the old schematic, I normally keep one or two copies of the same schematic in my inventory at all times.
I don't cheat the way you describe, but in my current game I AM cheating by changing the .dlg and .scr codes to make Swyft my permanent free follower.
