I think I'd prefer an actual picture of Leonard Nimoy.

If you're going to do that, at least make it evil Spock from the mirror universe.

But, given that we've finally decided on a different picture, don't do that.

    Cool, thanks DE.

Okay, next up, in order of join date, is Arthgon. Possibly the most controversial one ever. Opinions have been as follows:

Smuel: Borat with "Learnings for make benefit glorious roleplay effort"
    Wayne: Borat with "Learnings..."
    Zanza: Borat with "Learnings..."
    Yuki: Borat with "Learnings..."
    Gross: Borat with "Learnings..."
    Muro: No custom avatar
    Japes: No custom avatar
    Grakelin: No custom avatar
    Japes: Undecided
ytzk: Borat with "Lost in translation"
rroyo: Borat with "Lost in translation"
    Jojobobo: Borat with "Learnings..."
    Jojobobo: Zoidberg
    Gross: Zoidberg
Gross: Cats from All Your Base
    rroyo: No custom avatar
TDC: Cats from All Your Base
Transparent Painting: Borat with "Lost in translation"

So, if we only take people's first opinions, that's nine in favour of the Borat avatar, with three against a custom avatar. However, if you tally only the most recent opinions then it looks like this:

Smuel, Wayne, Zanza, Yuki: Borat with "Learnings for make benefit glorious roleplay effort"
ytzk, Transparent Painting: Borat with "Lost in translation"
Muro, Grakelin, rroyo: No custom avatar
    Jojobobo: Zoidberg
Gross, TDC: Cats from All Your Base

And if we only tally people who count:

Zanza, Wayne: Borat with "Learnings for make benefit glorious roleplay effort"
Transparent Painting: Borat with "Lost in translation"
    Muro, rroyo: No custom avatar
Gross: Cats from All Your Base

So, however you look at it, Borat with "Learnings..." is ahead, but only just.

Now we need everyone to post again, changing their minds a further time, and the decision will be clear.

Aside from his near-constant suggestions for his own avvie, name several reasons why.

Because he's either dim or a troll pretending to be so, and a custom should not be granted to individuals from either of those categories.

Sorry for that. It will not happen again. I was just really surprised.

I feel offended by that. Yes. I did made some mistakes. But I'm neither dim or a troll who pretends to be one. I already have shown that I can do better than I used to do.

I agree, but that's less than "several."

He's hardly a troll, and I don't actually think he's dim. There are certain life choices and habits, along with particular traumas, that can effectively screw up a person's comprehension of language and their ability to process information. Say he had a head injury - would you bar him from gaining a custom because a portion of his brain didn't work or wasn't there anymore?

By your reasoning, a person who has a custom now and later suffers brain trauma would no longer deserve one.

He could just be given a title if people are against an avatar, he receives his due and at the same time doesn't have to have an avatar imposed on him that he really doesn't want. Personally as a new suggestion I like:

Why must we give you several reasons? You're not the boss of us. One reason is enough:

    - He doesn't deserve one. Xz, mathboy, Vorak and several other members of the old guard would without doubt have agreed.

But I suppose I could go into detail. At least a little.

    - I don't think Arthgon is an honored member of our community. People generally don't like him (remember, we don't have to like him in order to accept him).
    - Arthgon is (to me) obviously a troll. Trolls should not get custom avatars.
    - If by any chance Arthgon is not a troll, his behaviour makes him, to me, a bad choice for a custom avatar.
    - What is Arthgons personality apart from his horrible english and stupid comments?

But it all eventually gets back to reason numbero uno: he doesn't deserve one.

A custom title is still a custom. Against.

You asked for several reasons. I decided to do more and give you one good one instead.

The contents of a member's cranium is irrelevant. A witty user with an incomplete cerebrum is more worthy of a custom than a full brained bore. The result is what matters, not the cause.

Negative, for he has deserved it in the past and the reward remains out of respect.

I never said I was, it's your decision to humor me or not. Looks like...

    ...You did.

Don't people get customs before the 1k post limit for the exact same thing? CharlesBHoff comes to mind. And you've had a spam avvie. HWLFP has had several customs so far. Unlike HWLFP, Arthgon doesn't seem to know he's trolling, and unlike Charles, he doesn't seem to work for Than Second Department.

Also, unike Van Stran/Vain Stain/Bree Van de Kamp, Arthgon isn't a Med. Student.

It was a pointless argument of semantics, I didn't have an issue with your reason.

Not all of what Arthgon says is boorish, though I may be reading more into what he's said occasionally than is actually there.

    I can settle the matter:

Look at some of Arthgon's posts.

Now, look at them and imagine the Borat avatar and title.

    Case closed.

Never said the latter quote applies to the former.

However, you did say "A witty user with an incomplete cerebrum is more worthy of a custom than a full brained bore."

Which would imply a witty user with a complete cerebrum is more worthy of a custom than an impartially brained bore.

Adding a sense of "special cases" for people who used to be witty just seems odd, especially if you're willing to ignore any improvements in coherence Arthgon has made since he joined about 6 months after you did.

Although I am in favour of Arthgon receiving a customised avatar/title, I see now that actually Sulik is the best advertisement for his personality possible and "lost in translation" would be redundant for most of his posts.

    Therefore I abstain.
