Well, there were the other forums in the beginning, they really didn't like Jinxed and Jarinor though.

Why not? I heard they could be a bit abrasive, but who isn't?

The official forums didn't like HoL and as such they didn't like some of its early representatives.

I might have slept with the girlfriend of a webmaster or two. But come on, they're webmasters, they don't even deserve girlfriends.

I've popped a few buffalos in my day...and by "popped a few buffalos", I mean exactly what it looks like.
How does the webmaster of an official game forum get a girlfriend? At least with T-A, we know that this is something the admins do in their spare time. I think.

I still have the PC gamer magazine with the 2 page advertisement spread of arcanum(from australia) and I had heard about it even before them in a trailer that I also still have on another sierra game(I just don't remember which one) Plus the collectors edition of Pharoah, Cleopatra and Caeser 3 came with a demo cd of the latest upcoming games from Sierra and impressions games One was an (unfornately uninterative, short trailer for Arcanum that was more or less the opening movie scene.) Also in a mind games store near china town in melbourne. The counter top of the place is draped in a blown up image of the front cover of the Arcanum box, and I still belive (although I haven't checked recently) that its still there! In another magazine I not which one but I believe it was a PC gamer. In there top 5 games of each genre list the RPG section, of the list had the following games. Planescape torment 98% Arcanum 98% Baldurs Gate 2 Throne of Bhaal 95% Diablo(bleh!) 90% and I forget the other game but If I find the magazine I'll post up its mini review that it came with, plus it had a game of the year stamp on it!

Arcanum to me, least was thoroughly advertised and It was mainly the trailer that showed that game play and game a rough definition that drove me to buy it, when I went looking for a good RPG I didn't stumble into Arcanum I was searching for it! However I noticed that the Ads for it were rather similar to that on the box, always the same pictures of an ogre outside of the tower in Tulla casting a spell and a bunch o' guys whackin' rats in some stony field and a image from the editor. Not much else and they used these same pictures over and over again! Also the map the game came with(its in front of me right now was rather dull) The manuel however was an excellent touch, Has anyone ever tried to make the bread recipe in there?

Anyway I know that at least Australia got a good dose of Arcanum Plus all the RPG reviewer all loved it. So I was kinda surprised that it didn't do as well as it should have. But hey RPG fans grow thinner by the year I find. No one other than two of my friends and my step brother simply had the patience to play Arcanum to any good length and my other friend that played it, well I not sure if he really liked that much I can't really say, maybe I'll ask him. The other people just whinged and were dumbfounded as to how the game was not in first person. It was always like "Ehh why isn't the game like diablo it looks like diablo, fart fart fart CounterStrike blah blah blah weellll you know the type I'm sure. BAH who needs em Arcanum was too good for them! I wouldn't want brainless scum who can't appreciate a masterpiece like that anyway, putting their filthy, sugar encrusted fingers around the box getting to shrouded hills and complaining about all sortsa bollocks! ARSEHOLES THE LOT OF EM! DAMN THEM ALL TO DEMOGORGON HE'LL SORT THEM OUT OR JUST KILL EM AT THE VERY LEAST!!!!

Hmm my dad sorta liked if I remember correctly. I know he knows a good game when plays one. Even if he takes a while to get anywhere in it he still sticks with it. I wonder why he didn't stick with Arcanum? Maybe its because I played it too much? Or perchance something worse? Nobody knows! I think I've also met someone else who played arcanum maybe even two people but I couldn'y say for certain. I remember I was listening to some Super Jesus for a sound assignment at a friends house very recently and I was saying that it reminded me of Arcanum and she smiled? but thats about it. But Hey I'm still pitching the greatness of the game even today and all the other Troika games I've played when I get Arcanum up a running again I'll lend it to one of my new friends.

One of my friend's from Junior High/High School got me into Arcanum. I know he liked it alot but I can't think of any game that he ever played for a significant length of time. He was always switching from one to another every few weeks. A friend of mine online has played it also, but he only thought it was "so-so". :(

Maybe this is a game you either love or hate. All of my friends who have played it can't get enough of it, so I might just know how to pick 'em.
