I think everyone should read that thread after they've been here a while. It's a good inside joke, and inside jokes help draw a community together. A Newbie will never feel truly a part of the group if he senses that people are hiding something or talking over his head.

THat wasn't directed at you, mrnobodie, or at anyone, for that matter. Just an observation. And I consider myself a Newbie.
But I don't think you can base Newbie-ism on how long a person has been registered. I think it's deeper than that. I think it depends on how well a poster integrates with the group. Do people recognize the poster as an authority? Do they ask for him specifically? Are there inside jokes about him? Is the poster "in" on the jokes? When these things happen, the poster becomes a Regular. Keep it up long enough and you become an Oldie.
Then they punish you by making you a moderator.

I agree, I have believe it or not I was once a newbie myself, and the first thing that happened to me was, being flamed by Friend Al 23. Besides noone wanted to believe my npc reaction bug.
And that is why I don't lock/delete the threads like these since I think they are somewhat essencial to the life of the forum. Geeze if we didn't have a good time here then it would be boring like hell. Maybe that is why TA is popular and prospering.
to me that is not entirely spam, it's just a couple of people having a good time.
BUT as I said there are limits
Mr.Nobodie: you are not a newbie.

Are you talking about the American kind of football, or the English kind?

When we talk about footy here, we mean RUGBY! The only true man's game left in the civilised world today - the only protection those fella's have is a mouthguard, none of this pansy ass padding!

(I'm sure mrnobodie appreciates the sentiments...)

Well, that protection is necessary. These players often run at each other as fast as they can and crash into each other head-first. Without helmets there would be a lot of deaths, or at least brain damag...oh, I see. Uh, yeah, rugby's cool.

Actually, some rugby players are pretty smart. 7 of the Wallabies (the national rugby union team) have doctorates in various disciplines.

Not nearly as well as soccer. It depends which country you play for, which team in which country, and of course, how good you are.

If you are good at rugby (international level good) then it's a pretty good living. Soccer is one of the richest sports in the world though. It probably wouldn't be as good as American Footbal (aka Grid Iron), because there's more money in American than in Australia, yet no other country in the world plays Grid Iron.
