Yes, you're quite right there, Chunky. But I was generally talking about civilians who just died because of a heart attack or some other small, everyday thing.

Was it that video of the Russian soldier? Black and white, the soldier's head was shaved, and the bastard who killed him had his boot on his neck. Then he sticks a combat knife into the side of his throat, behind the trachea, and saws outward through the trachea, to the accompaniement of a strange choking, gurgling noise and lots of blood.

I saw the Viet Cong killing, too. It was real. When you see the bullet rip open his jaw, you know it's real.

Actually, the one I saw was a bullet in the back of the head from a pistol at close range. The jaw didn't get dismembered, there was just arterial blood spurting out, and there was a shitload of it. Pretty nasty stuff.

In the one I saw, they blindfolded the guy and laid him down in a grave with a sign on his chest. Then three guys with Ak-47s took turns walking fire up his body. The third guy put two bullets through his jaw, ripping it open. It was messed up.

Yeah, on mine it was just an officer of the VC (I think, I don't know for sure, I only saw it once) just strolling along kind of past this guy who'd been captured or something, casually pulls out his pistol and pops this guy in the back of the head.

Reminds me of the Brotherhood of Steel guys shown in the Fallout 1 intro movie.

probably shouldn't have written that, high probability of bad results. Oh well, it could be well worth it.

Like when an egg dies at the end of the menstruation cycle? That's terrible

That's actually not human life yet...if someone was pregnant, and they miscarried, you could argue that was a loss of human life (and many people do), but the egg itself is not a human life.

I was simply sarcasticly pointing out the stupidity of anti-abotrtionism, in the case that Sleek was talking about it. I would however descride an egg as some kind of human life.

I consider it a real "baby" once it has developed to the pont of fetus.

a fetus has a heartbeat at one month old. you can hear it at the dr's office. that pretty much qualifies it as alive, in my opinion.

Shut the fuck up, you ignorant little bastard. A blood cell has no self-awareness, while a fetus does. They can respond to outside noises and touch on the whomb from a very early time. My sister gave birth about six months ago, and there was one occasion midway through the pregnancy when I belched very loudly when she was in the room, and the baby jumped in the uterus. That was only one example of many when he would respond to outside stimulus.

A thing does not need to be self-aware in order to respond to its environment. Plants do it all the time, and jellyfish, lacking brains and pretty much everything else, do a fine job hunting just through reflex response.

but we consider plants and jellyfish to be living creatures, while we consider blood cells to be a part of a living creature... unless of course, it's a blood cell that belongs to the Thing, in which case it's a sentient being all by itself.
