Speaking of correcting overcrowding, I think that the general discussion page has become overcrowded. However, the solution is not too far away:

On another note, you should care about people's deaths, they affect the world around you. Whether or not you care about the people that died in the world trade center, you still have to put up with the insanely shitty consequences that resulted from it.
Therefore news aobut people's deaths is relevant, and you should care.

Besides, there are not too many people. There are too many stupid people. There is not an overpopulation of educated, intelligent people. There are far too few of them, in fact. There is an overpopulation of trailer-trash-ish morons who fuck their sisters and have several dozen children.

When the knowledge of people dying could save lives, sure it's noteworthy, but otherwise, it's a waiste of your own precious lifetime that is put in mourning and whining when it should be taken up by learning, exlporing, and building. In other words, mourning wastes society's precious time.

 

Who said anything about mourning and whining? When the WTC collapsed my mother went on and on about "all those poor people", but I think the first words out of my mouth were, "A lot of people are going to suffer and die for this." Or something to that effect.

Vengeance is a great motivator, and mourning is not the only non-apathetic response to disaster.

 

Vengeance is the result of mourning. If you don't mourn, which is don't feel bad due to someone's death, then there won't be any vengeance.

 

You do not have to mourn to lust for vengeance; all it is is a motivator to action, and it can have any number of sources. That's a pretty narrow definition you offer.

 

When I say don't mourn, what I mean is don't give a flying fuck¹. Does that define it a little better, sweetie?


¹ Unless it endangers other people who are currently alive, such as in terrorism or in a war.

 

I don't care if you give a fuck or not, you pathetic little condescending turd. My point was that vengeance can spring from more than one source, and that no one source, be it mourning or whining or giving a fuck, is vital.

Four, not caring about the dead makes you one of the lowest life forms on the planet. I don't mean you have to care truly madly deeply about every single person to die EVER, but the way you dismiss death in general is simply not right. It's been a while since I got into a real discussion around here. I'm gonna focus on doing that, looks like fun!

 

I feel special, because I've flirted with Canis on a number of occasions, up to and including marriage proposal, and never heard a nasty word about it. Therefore, I'm sexier than xento. Then again, so is Cliff Yablonski.

Chill xento, they are after your ass. Honestly I am with you on this topic: I only care if people are directly related to me or if they represent a benefit of some sort to me or my own. I know I am not a good person...I don't see why should I.

 

I'm actually kind of with xento on this one - once they're dead, they're dead. However, Icairus made a good point - they may be dead, but there are consequences to deal with, a point I also agree with.

I don't like the glorifying of such events though. What the hell was so special about them that this particular 'tragedy' is somehow more tragic/important than this one over here? The selective, and sometimes hypocritical, coverage of such events does not sit well with me.

I'm also with Canis - revenge/vengeance are great motivators.

And I saw a video of a guy being executed by the Viet Cong. Then again, it was from rotten.com, but it was still pretty damn realistic (hell, it may have been real for all I know). Given it happened 30 to 40 years ago, there's not much I can do about it now.

As any human should, to see a person dead when they were once so full of life and expression is a feeling thats hard to explain.
The dead should be respected, not bitched about as you say everyone does. The people who died in WWI & WWII are the ones that TRUELY deserve to be respected and never forgotten.
