That's actually almost a completely legitimate point, though I would answer 'no': a paradox (eventually) implies a contradiction, by definition; the definition of a contradiction is 'something which is never true'; so, if the contradiction implied by the paradox is never true, the paradox is never true, since the contradiction would always be true whenever the paradox is.

That's completely illogical and profoundly stupid.

Therefore, I must not heed the above, because— oh! Now that's a paradox!

...by necessity. Never true by necessity, wayne. It has to be false, or it's not a contradiction. I dunno, I think I might be splitting hairs.

I'm talking about logic; that's the point. Anything that can be true but isn't necessarily (a contingency), is sometimes true in logic, based on truth functions; so, something which is never true is a contradiction (and the negation of a contradiction is a tautology). That's not even splitting hairs; that's just adding more words, like if I said '... always false, no matter what': if it's always false, it can't be a tautology or a contingency, so it must be always false 'by necessity' if its a contradiction, since that's the definition: "A tall man is tall, by necessity".

You're talking about logic now? I though it was science, you know, stuff that actually happens, however illogical it may seem.

Besides, wheelchair guy is the chair (hahaa) of mathematics at Cambridge, so that's logical!

Man, how'd you get to be so stupid?

Edit: That's another deleted post by ytzk!

See? This goes right along with what I was saying about smart people not seeming smart to others, regardless of IQ.

The General Discussion Index claims the latest post in this thread was by Ytzk, but when I click on it, it claims no such post exists.

This thread has actually broken spacetime.

Hey, Yitzak, have you been deleting posts the whole time you've been here, or has it only been recently that you've started deleting and editing?

It was only a possible post, the quantum field wasn't collapsed in time.

I've been deleting posts quite often. I've noticed phantom paragraphs from you and Muro before too, Gross.

As predicted people tried to use "science" to answer my chicken or the egg question. They have AS PREDICTED failed to see the true question. Throwing their mumbojumbo around only distracts themselves from the true question giving them a false sense of smugness. They fear the unknown and create "scientific theories" to explain this phenomenon. They are no better than the religious nuts they look down upon.

I couldn't agree more; you can prove anything with facts that's even remotely true!

Whenever my posts mysteriously disappear, though, they quickly return with an added paragraph (rather than a removed one) or two before anyone should notice the change (including you, you cheater).

Yeah, I like to edit posts as much as I can before someone else comments. Some posts, like this one, are fine the way they start out. Other posts, however, I feel I've revealed too much at once and delete my words to save face. Apparently, however, you've caught glimpses of them before, so maybe I'm not as fast as I used to be. Or something. All I've learned from this forum is that there are two places at least for me to visit; Europe and Australia. Some cool folks from those places. I'd like to meet them.

    You'd be most welcome, Gross.

Now, we'll never reach 20 pages if we sit around agreeing with each other.

    "Once more into the fray..."

Wayne, your certainty is merely a function of monkey neurology, logic and determinism are as imaginary as faith and hope.

The proper observation of reality is in a state of humble confusion.

Lao Tze says: "Everyone else is knowing, luminous; I alone am muddied, confused."

Smuel, I challenge you to ignore the singularity at the back of your mind. Don't even think about it... Dollars to donuts says its gravity is inescapable.

    Go on, I dare you.

Despite its usefulness, logic is a construct of the human mind, as is rationality.
Nature gets by on instinct, the all powerful struggle to survive. Humans get by on twinkies.

Despite its usefulness, water is a construct of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, as is hydrogen peroxide!

Now you're just copy pasting what I've said and replacing it with relatively uncommon chemical combinations! That's not an argument, that's playing the jester. On top of that, I don't even know what your point is.
My point was that logic is, after all, a creation of man. Despite it's usefulness in mathematics, philosophy, and the art of arguments, all of these things are man made. Life gets on just fine without logic. What makes you trust it so? Sure, it makes sense, so does math and philosophy. But if you look at the grand scheme of things, how much of the universe is populated by humans? So far, all I know of the human population is that it resides on and around the Earth sphere. That's the limit of logic. Earth. SInce we haven't made meaningful contact with extra terrestrials, I'm assuming they don't necessarily matter in this context.
LSD is man made, too. However, you're just as likely to love as to hate that stuff after trying it. Not many people like temporary schizophrenia. You might. Of course, it may make you permanently crazy...

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make; you seem, to me, to be talking hokum (actually, I think I might know exactly what you're trying to get at, and it's nonsense)! I'll just quote my particular favourite part of your post; the bit which makes the least sense:
