Yeah, I also caught your earlier post wishing us 'goodnight' before you changed it to 'Man, you crazy!'. If you're so quick, how come you're so slow? :D

    Edit:

I saw that one, too! Yes, it was a joke!

    Edit:

Man, I must be some fucking loser... I saw the 'pekaboo' one, as well!

    Edit:

And the 'catch me if you can'... I'm walking away from this right now...

Well that renders your entire argument invalid.

Maybe we're using different definitions of the word "determinism" then, but one of the reasons that scientists such as Einstein and Popper objected to, and attempted to disprove the Uncertainty Principle when it was first proposed was because it precludes determinism at the sub atomic level. As I said before though, to me it is a non-issue, so I don't think it's worth arguing about.

Sorry, but anyone who uses this as an argument loses by default. I would have preferred to read the post that you deleted. And as for the notion of a "synthesis" of science and religion, there is obviously no such thing since religious beliefs only form in the vacuum where the scientific method has yet to reach. Sadly, that includes the minds of the ignorant and gullible.

(Now if ytzk replies to this I hope I manage to catch it before he deletes it...)

Smuel, you an arsehole that don't know shit!

Nah, I see your point of view. If we were speaking the same language I'd totally agree with you.

Jesus, what are you even saying? I don't even need to read his response to know what it's going to be! Just tell him he's an asshole that don't know shit! It got rid of Xyle for a time, apparently!

Awh man, I can literally see what he's going to write before my eyes!

    Edit:

This wasn't going to be a double-post until ytzk deleted his post while I was writing this one; and TDC posted right afterwards, so I couldn't delete it.

Yes, aliens built the pyramids and Jesus was an alien.

I'm not as educated on this matter as ytzk claims to be (I accept it as a valid claim and am labeling it as a "claim" not to challenge, but to be accurate), but of the religions with which I'm familiar, the omnipotent god is of a celestial nature. From where else would the aliens come?!

You know, it has always frustrated me when blokes use the "Quote" feature on the post immediately preceding their reply, but if ytzk keeps this up, we might have to make it a standard operating procedure.

ytzk, do I have to start a "What I Appreciate About You" thread to encourage you to let your posts persist unedited?

I, for one, would find that quite touching, though I actually enjoy his deleting posts, so...

I, for one, find it extremely difficult to converse with someone who deletes their posts before I can read them.

Frankly, religion is irrelevant to science. Science is the discovery of how the universe works. If the universe happens to include deities then science would find them in due course, but any definition of science would not include such beings from the outset. Or any other trappings of religion.

Religions, on the other hand, can define themselves however they like. And if it turns out that the universe works in a way that's incompatible with them, then the cleverer religions redefine themselves, while the more stubborn ones dig their heels in and declare that science is wrong about this particular issue. Neither of these approaches makes any difference to the scientific discoveries in question, although the latter is rather annoying for scientists.

Oh sure, early scientific progress was made in the name of religion, but since science is the discovery of how the universe works, the same scientific conclusions would have been reached regardless of what motivated the original scientists. In fact, this is demonstrated by the way that early discoveries were often made multiple times in different places by people under the influence of disparate cultures. Despite their varying starting points, they came to the same conclusions.

Nope. (Wayne knew I was going to say this.)

    Poetry is art, not religion.

Quite possibly. But that has nothing to do with religion.

Finally, you say something that I can agree with...
