So in a bout of partially drunken ego-mania, I thought it was time for one of my characteristically unusual threads. I could have course used a more descriptive subject title, one more fit for purpose, but I simply didn't want to.

The name of the game is the T-A dating game, and the purpose is to rank your compatibility with your fellow forum members. The prize? A lifetime of awkward feelings knowing that one such member could be a potentially suitable life-partner for yourself. The bonus prize? The first person to post in this thread gets a gold star added to their avatar, of course awarded under moderator discretion.*

So what are you actually doing? Well you're picking which of the Seven Heavenly Virtues or Seven Deadly Sins or Vices are most representative of your personality; naturally I studied in depth Dante's Inferno, Chaucer and Paradise Lost in order to put in the necessary groundwork for this thread (or I may have just stolen them straight from the World of Darkness Core Rulebook, it's definitely one of the two). The idea is not to be desperately introspective or self-pitying, just to give an accurate sense of what core principles define you. Of course I will give you the necessary run down of both the Virtues and the Vices, to aid you in this most vital of decision making processes:

    The Seven Heavenly Virtues:

Charity - Putting yourself out to selflessly help another person, at the expense of your time or resources.

Faith - The ability to faith into a higher power (not necessarily religious), and in light of this to forge meaning from chaos and tragedy.

Fortitude - Adherence to an ideal or way of life, despite serious external pressure to change your ways.

Hope - Believing that things will turn out alright in the end, despite how desperate a situation you might find yourself in.

Justice - Doing what you feel is morally just regardless of how your actions might lead to more problems for you as an individual.

Prudence - Weighing your options before you take action; not just taking the easy route because you believe it might offer a temporal benefit.

Temperance - Avoiding excess emotional indulgence (wallowing in grief, etc.); keeping a level head.

    The Seven Deadly Sins:

Envy - Wanting what others have, whether that is material or not; especially when you take spiteful action against those who have what you want.

Gluttony - Excessive indulgence of any behaviour that poses a risk to yourself or someone close to you.

Greed - Acquiring something you want regardless of who or what might stand in your way.

Lust - Satisfaction of a behaviour that can degrade or victimise others (not necessarily sexual).

Pride - Doing what it takes to vindicate your own ego, regardless of consequences.

Sloth - The dodging of work or responsibility to your detriment.

Wrath - The inability to contain anger in situations where you know it will have repercussions.

For me, it’s got to be hope and sloth: I never really plan things meticulously or find situations hopelessly bleak, I always think things will work out in the end; at the same time I’ll put off any obligations for as long as I can, in spite of the fact if I had have taken charge sooner I would have a better/happier outcome. Really I think the two couple to create a comfortable bubble of inertia, where I put things off because I believe they’ll sort themselves out until then eventually come to a head where facing the problem is now inescapable.

So now you too can spin to win (or some other zany and more appropriate game catchphrase)! Of course these definitions aren’t absolute (I know the description of Lust I gave sounds more than a bit rapey), so interpret them however you please. Further, I guess people always have more than one virtue and vice but this is one of those “if you had to pick one” kind of deals. Why am I really asking this? Well I’m bored, but beyond that I feel like if I could ask one question of anyone and have them answer it halfway honestly it would be this one.

*Chance of bonus prize award = statistically negligible.

Fortitude and sloth, which I believe makes a bubble of absolute inertia.

I'm all fortitude and lust, I'm bull headed with my beliefs and tend to like degrading others.

On a side note, joe, how do you think someone would get along perfectly with someone of their same polarity? I at least get disgusted by other people like me, but not me.

I guess they might not get along, but it does show similarity.

Justice and hope. I shouldn't even have to explain this by now.

    Prudence and Pride, I think.

Honestly, I'd like to get a second opinion on this (Wobbler, Wolf?).

Edit: Realised they'll both probably say Wrath. :|

    No, it didn't.

Besides which, you chose two virtues, then claimed that it should go without saying?

Nah, you must be trolling, dawg.

Sorry it wasn't specified how many, just that you chose virtues or sins.

    Hmm, true.

In that case, I choose übermensch, and eat morality for breakfast.

    Raargh!

Pridefueled sloth of the "I'm so great that I don't need to work" variety.

As for virtues, I'm thinking hope (but only on a personal level) or fortitude (but mostly in regards to the bullheadedness, regardless of issue).

Actually, I think the list is somewhat dated.

For me, I guess it would be temperance and sloth, though there are cases to be made for prudence and lust.

So, who do I get to date?

I think it's temperance and sloth for me as well, so that would be me, lover boy.

Oh, come and date me, my otherworldly sensual troll offspring, come and prudently unfold your lust with me!

On reflection, I may tend more towards charity and pride. So, you know, we shouldn't rush into anything.

See I knew this would bring us all closer together, like one big happy family who may or may not want sexual relations with each other.
