So, everybody retains their autonomy. No generic logins.
There's a place at the Sierra site that has links to all the separate boards.
All the separate boards are linked back to the Sierra site.
I still can't see a down side to this.

Although, I can see a mixed blessing.
New folks coming to T-A. In the long run it will be a good thing, but I foresee some trials ahead.
The same could be said for the other boards. Everyone has their own culture.

Isn't this simular to the old 'web rings'?

This could be a good thing. I mean the Admins still get to enforce their own rules, and then this site would basically be the closest thing to an official Arcanum site their is, and the regulars would have some sort of social superiority.

It does sound like a web-ring, now I think about it. As long as logins remain autonomous, I'm totally behind the idea. Fresh blood could be a good thing - there should be at least a couple of interesting people out there.

I don't see any downsides either. It is true that there is a diversity among gameplayers: for example those who purely like the classic adventures generally have a different kind of posting style than, say, hardcore FPS players do. I don't see that as a problem, cause hardcore FPS players won't even bother visiting the adventure game forums and vice versa. On the other hand a forum member of the N.O.L.F. forums will find it very convenient to have instant access to other FPS forums and will most likely find his friends there aswell. There are always some trouble makers of course, but that's where the admin/moderator steps in if something gets out of hand. And when there's a REAL pain-in-the-butt member, then the admin can inform the admins of the other forums about it aswell.

I heard about the webring, but am unfortunately not familiar with it.

I think that the best advice is, that we have to wait untill everyone agree or disagree with this.

Or, we just leave this to the admins, since it won't matter what we think, really.

Here's an idea Arth, how about you ask any questions you may have, or if you don't you shut up.

This decision will undoubtedly be up to the admins and the the admins alone.

Now I can't see any downsides to this. Basically they're asking for a link in return for a link. And I'd say that's a rather fair trade. Especially since it has a good purpose. Now I'm not an admin though, so who cares what I think? And the same goes for you Arth, no one cares.

I'm sorry if I came off a bit cross, but the point still stands, this matter is up to the people with the power. Everybody don't have to agree.

    It is alright Xz.

You absolutely right Xz, perhaps we should let the people with the power decide.

Having spent some time thinking on the matter, I've come to the conclusion that I support the idea. I therefore propose that you make a link to this site on your Gateway, and that we in turn make a link to the gateway from the Arcanum section in the forum menu.

Now, it may very well be your wish that we put the Gateway link at the very top of the forum, but keep in mind that we are a Troika fansite first and foremost, always has been always will be, and that Arcanum was the only Troika game to be published by Sierra.

Yes, we are aware that these are forums for Troika games and that Arcanum is the only title published by Sierra, so it is indeed probably better to place the Gateway link in the Arcanum section.

So, shall we then? DarkUnderlord, mathboy and Vorak, do you also support it? Let us know and, if you decide to join up, then please register at the Gateway (www.sierraforums.com) so that Almirena or Collector can give you access to the boardroom and you can meet the other forum admins.

You know that "you" and "we" are synonymous in our case.

Also, I thought you supported the idea?

If you don't make me admin, I don't care. But if you make Garm admin, I swear to Me I will never return to this forum. EVER.

Admin? You? But you're the only one who knows phpBB around here. Doesn't make sense, does it?

However, we should quit derailing this thread.
