For anyone wanting unobtrusive "wallpaper" music, I highly recommend the works of Gandalf and David Arkenstone.

Arkenstone? I remember that I had a song called Arkenstone by a dark ambient band called Summoning. Guess it's not so odd, since Summoning was heavily inspired by Tolkien's books.

Today I purchased Of Fungi and Foe by Les Claypool. Weirdest album I've heard of that guy to date.

papa_dog_1999: That looks very interesting, but unfortunaly I do not live in America. So I have to wait untill it is in the Netherlands.

rroyo: What is "wallpaper" music? I never heard of that.

It's a term I heard a while ago for New Age/soft Classical/Easy Listening music. Something soft and mellow playing in the background that breaks the silence but doesn't interupt your train of thought - unless you want it to.

Transparent Painting: The second one, Photosynthesis, comes the closest of the two to being what I would consider wallpaper music.

Here's a quick clip of Water of Life by Arkenstone for comparison:

And here's a link for my favorite album by Gandalf. Listen to the clip for Where the Heart Finds a Home.

Now both of these are instrumental, but vocal music can and does fall into the wallpaper catagory as well. Enya is a good example of this.

BTW: Now that I've had a few minutes to think about it, the term wallpaper music might be a local (south-central Oregon) thing, as I can't recall hearing it used anywhere else.

    Okay.
Just added Myuji and Hangry+Angry to my play list.
    Saw them at the Con.
I'm still trying to figure out if I like Girugamesh.

    Yeah.
    Well.
The Con is doing well enough and making enough money that I'm hoping next years commercial doesn't smell of fanboy.
