Was it any good? I always thought the Wizardry series looked crappy and never touched'em.

I never got into the first seven Wizardrys (guess I just lost most of my kudos), but number 8 is quite different. There is a free demo you can try (that's what got me hooked) and once you've worked your brain around the unusual "first-person 3D party view with self-contained formation" concept, the game is pretty sweet.

That is, if you like complex character skill development, turn-based battles, adventuring with up to 8 people in your party, and quirky atmosphere.

I'm beginning to think you don't understand this forum at all. Who wants complex character skill development and turn-based battles when they could just blast the hell out of 8 year olds on COD? Duhh!

So, DF, what's your interpretation on this strange phenomena called The House of Lords?

    I'm honestly quite curious.

Thank you. I only bought creme a la creme under the adventure and Role Playing games. Some were bought as they were still on floppy and diskettes. (Wizardry, Ultima I-VI, Infocom text adventures, Monkey Island, et al. ) Others (the newer games) are on cd's. I am a bit old-fashioned if it comes to games.

When I was young, the graphics were still primitive compared to these days. In Wizardry I, you'd have the d for dog and the capital d for Dragon. Yes, the plot and the story were more important than the sound and graphics.

Prehistoric, perhaps? It gives me a huge nostalgia boner everytime someone mentions this game. Literally.

Ultima 1-8 is where its at, 9 was fucking awful.

Fate of Atlantis was awesome, more so than any licensed film game had any right to be:

Man, fate of Atlantis was pretty awesome.

I remember when Day of the Tentacle came out a friend and I played through the entire thing together over the course of a weekend. It was pretty awesome.

I just found out that Fate of Atlantis is on Steam:

    http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2102/

And its kind of depressing that in 2009 they bunched all those old games together as a promotional thing and all the games are so unpopular now they appear to have forgotten they ever did it and 3 years later you can still get the deal.

Since I am kind of obsessive and ten years in the past (read: House of Lords member) I only have one game on my list at a time.

    This month it was Morrowind.

Now played to death, including about 500 restarts, despite the fact that this game takes the cake for most tedious start-over ever: Narry a goblin nor rat nor ailing wolf to be seen, just paperwork.

    Crash site forever!
