The Let's Play Arcanum! Voting Thread

As you may or may not know, I decided to abandon the Atelier Annie LP as an exercise in futility (and to preserve my poor eardrums, Kyle may have a hot voice but that's ruined by fecking Fitz and her 11-year-old screams), so we're gonna play Arcanum instead!

The things that are set: I'm playing a chick, I'm playing Evil (capital E and all), Virgil's coming with us, and I'm gonna be a mage because I'm doing this for fun, not to make my brain bleed.

So, while I get sleep and decide what Backgrounds I'm gonna put up for vote, you get to decide my race!

Bucking the trend with human

 

I think Half-Orc has enough votes top win at this point. As far as backgrounds go, How about "Mad Doctor" or "Nature Mage"?

 

I would like to suggest that if you're going to be an eeevil bitch, Half-Orc is too traditional. It's the race for those mages who solve problems by burning them down, and I'm sure there's better ways to be a naughty girl.

So I cast my vote for an Elf. A Dark Elf Follower.

Well, Half-Orc won that vote decisively! I'll be back with Background options in a couple of hours - unfortunately, real life has this annoying habit of coming after me with the threat of no money if I don't do certain things.

 

Here's the list of Backgrounds I feel are appropriate to a Half-Orc mage. Many thanks to rroyo for the extras. Love.

1. No Background (Balanced as all hell, but no real bonuses either)
2. Professional Knife Thrower (Long ranged death even when I'm out of fatigue, but I'll need glasses)
3. Born Under a Sign (Major results on critical hits and failures, but we won't see them very often)
4. Suppressed Orcish Looks (I'll have the normal starting reaction when talking to people, but Persuasion is out of the question)
5. Debutante (A hot, manipulative half-orc?)
6. Sold Your Soul (The classic Evil Mage background)
7. Day Mage (Magic Powerhouse during the day, Magic Weakling at night)
8. Night Mage (As Day Mage, but reverse it)
9. Sky Mage (As long as I'm outdoors, we're talking big booms. Inside... not so much)
10. Nature Mage (In the wild, I am queen. In the city, I am someone's bitch)
11. Only Child (I will be a seriously uber-freakin'-powerful mage, but I'll also be the bitch queen from hell)
12. Fire Witch (Bonuses to my Fire resistance and magic, creepy as fuck)
13. Popular (My physical combat skills will suck, but I get an extra follower)
