I am starting this thread on every forum I ever was (if there isn't one already). If you don't like it, ask Jar to vault it.

    What are you listening to?

Wondering what are the music tastes of the people here.

I'm not listening to any music at the moment, But I'm into: Coldplay, Pete Murray, Classical Compositions, John Mayer. I'm not much for the whole death metal scene...

Hear :)...I just don't get it...if I'm angry or depressed, I listen to something melancholy. Most metal, IN MY OPINION, is absolute shite. Thankyou and good night.

I like a bit of the Rammstein at the moment, but I mostly listen to my highly eclectic collection of mp3's - Tchaikovsky to Queen to Turbonegro among others.

I listen to Rammstein to further my German.
I like good classical, especially Bach and some Chopin. But mainly I listen to hard-ish rock and above e.g. Nirvana, Pearljam, Queens of the Stone Age(if I could screw them I would) and slipknot etc. But I don't like Cannibal Corpse style heavy metal.

Settler you have very little experience with any form of metal. So, YOUR OPINION means nothing. Metal is generally more melancholy than Radiohead. Radiohead are more "depressing" and whiney than alot of stuff. And they don't even have the happy at the same time part which would make it melancholy.

I love music in general with some exceptions:
    - Nu-Punk. Except for Offspring, which is not really new, the rest is shit. Including Avril Lavigne, Sum41 and many other pop-punk fuckers.

    - Modern Hip-Hop/Rap. There are no exceptions. I hate modern rap in general. Run DMC was fun (especially the song they did with Aerosmith) as well as some other old stuff...

    - Teenage Bubble-gum pop.

Listening to some thinggy I made in FL Studio which I tried out yesterday. Nice proggy. Still have much to learn though.

Run DMC is about the only rap I like, because it isn't usually nigga-gangsta rap.

Yeah, Run DMC is absolute gold :). Bach is also great, but for different reasons :)...my favourites are the Brandenburg concertos.

SD: Melancholy..."2. A sad, thoughtful state of mind..." Mmmmm...Radiohead to a tee...

You don't need to be happy to be melancholy. And don't tell me what I do and don't know about metal :).

Nothing at the moment, but in my cd playa:

J.D. Thompson, a compilation album where he brought back all of his original band members now that they've every single one made it big; Ricky Scaggs, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas. Fucken awesome.

An amazing concept band. Get their albums, as soon as possible.

DEATH: Well, fuckit, we have almost the same opinions on music. And you've claimed to be a conservative as well! So what the hell are we flaming about then? Not that I don't look foreward to your next reply, of course.

Sigurd: The flame is in the flaming thread anyway. Besides Rosie said I need practice.

Just curious: Is there anyone who even heard of "Godspeed! You Black Emperor"?

Fuck a duck, and screw a kangaroo. I meant J.D. Crowe, not Thompson.

Not that anyone woulda known the difference.

I like Stratovarius, Scorpions and Beethoven mostly. 70s Rock is slowly gaining my respect. Fact is, I like most music except for nigga gangsta crap (Panamanian reggae, rap, etc), most salsa and merengue (except for Ruben Blades and Juan Luis Guerra), Panamanian folk music, most pop (except for "Whitey" Boyabuser) and any metal bands where the vocalist sounds like he/she is being decapitated (like on that seedy Serbian video) while singing. Atylantos has made me respect opera a bit.

I didn't know you'd heard anything but bach's brandanberg concertos. If you've heard more kudoos to you. I got heaps if you want.

Radio Head is not thoughtful at all. You ever listened to the lyrics? 2+2 does not equal 5. Hell, as much as it shames me to admit it Slipknot has more potential and relevant meaning than Radiohead. If you disagree then you haven't heard the songs I'm talking about.

You don't know diddly about metal and you certainly don't know enough to have a valid opinion :).

Yes, I've heard of them. Haven't heard anything BY them though, but I hear they're good...but I also don't know what genre they are, so I could consider them awesome or a steaming pile of crap.

    "I need a saga. What's a saga? It's songs for the deaf!"
Yes, it's Queens of the Stone Age - You think I Ain't Worth A Dollar But I Feel Like A Millionaire
Excellent album as a whole. The radio background is priceless :D.

Jar: Godspeed! You Black Emperor doesn't have a defined genre. But I'd say it's close to Psycholdelic. I don't mean "Pseudo-Psychodelic" like Radiohead or Coldplay: I mean Psychodelic like Pink Floyd.
As for Radiohead/Coldplay, in both bands, the singer seems to have been recently castrated... They deserve that, although Radiohead have *some* reasonably good songs.
