"The Hand" for Ogdin on the Isle of Despair

Hi guys, I'm new at this RPG thing and I seem to be stuck.
Ogdin (the big Ogre that guards the dwarf's house on the Isle of Despair) has asked me to bring him "The Hand" for his intellectual stimulation.
Where would I find this? I've read that once I leave the Isle I can't get back. Was this an item I was supposed to have picked up somewhere? I did go through all the books in the library in Tarant, but don't recall seeing anything fitting this description.
If it helps any, I've chosen the "sickly child" background and was at level 20 in intellect when I met him.
Any help would be appreciated.

 

in the barrel in front of teach's ship you can find the book. make sure you turn teach around so he doesn't attack when you pick the lock... as far as i know, you can't get back to the isle, you're just supposed to get the book before you go...
