When you first get to Ashbury run to the top right (north east) until you see the gnome kicking the dog. If you don't do it the first time you go to Ashbury, the dog will die. If you wait long enough in Ashbury the dog will die. Basically, you have about a minute or two to save the dog first time you get to Ashbury. He's near the water in the north east.

i must of had a bug cause i saved him at level 8 or 9 once and he wouldn't join...i actually ended up scrapping the game and starting over with a created character
Pre-created? Urgh...the only time I've used a pre-created character was when I first started the game...reading their description, I clicked the wrong button and started the game...kinda disappointing way to start.
jarinor, i'm kinda old school i guess you could say...i'm used to pitfall on atari...and zelda, ,metroid, castlevania, and mario bros. on nintendo....so please excuse a lack of fundamental knowledge concerning modern rpg for the pc...to date i've only played diablo II w/expansion and arcanum....i'm currently going through arcanumw/ created charater (tech.)...i must admit it is a lot better than pre-created...the anticipation of where to put my points is close to killing me....tech's are a lot more fun than mages (just thought i'd say that while i was at it)...
