I want to create a dwarf tech character. I will be using guns and I want to be able to talk myself out of various situations. But it's basically genius tech, great gunslinger, good diplomat. (diplomat gunlinger may be reversed if someone knows that it's more beneficial to be great talker good shooter than the opposite).

I was thinking about this one but I didn't like Dex penalty. Aren't action points, hence number of shots/turn derived from dexterity?

yes they are ive choosen raised by monks cuz you get a point in perception who s also importan to several skillz and it comes at the cost of 300 gold lesser starting money but who cares about money you get enought in the game so thats like a free point i think

Perception is gold for gunslingers. The higher your Perception, the better you'll be able to shoot.

That's one thing I don't like about Arcanum. Melee characters need Strength and Dexterity to perform well, since Strength affects damage and most weapons have Minimum Strength Required and Dexterity for Speed.

Gunslingers/Ranged characters need Strength, Dexterity, and Perception! Guns and Bows have Minimum Strength Required, Speed is required because it's more shots per round, and you need Perception to be able to hit anything.

Melee is just easier to develop a character for, it's as simple as that.

I heard that techs generally have a harder time in this game. My friend simply created a char with 20Str and 20Dex some spells (healing, teleportaion etc.) and the final fight took him only two rounds. Moreover he had no problem going solo through this game.
