    hi guys,

first post and i hope it will be a useful one. I was annoyed by the fact that some terrain types didn't work. Soon I found the desert mountains by Zak and the Void terrain by Drog. Both really great additions to the game and modding scene.

I still wondered and searched for the snowy mountains and tropical mountains but found none.

That was all this morning (except the annoyance). I started looking at the downloads and undatted some arcanum dat files and found the terrain type maps. Figured them out and wrote a tutorial for others to make their own terrain types.

The first part is about the terrain types and how to create the missing/broken terrain types. The next (as of yet unfinished part) will be about creating new terrain types.

I hope it will be useful for some of you!

SijbrandIwema, I welcome you to the forum, and I would like to thank you for this tutorial.

PS: So, you are Frisian as well? (Because of your name.)

    Thanks for the welcome:)

Working on a terrain pack at the moment, got one done and i'm working on one with strange mountain ranges and tight transitions. Can't seem to make new terrain types or transitions though, WorldEd crashes when i try.

    offtopic: no Arthgon, Groningen

SijbrandIwema: Hope you're still hanging around and thanks for the tutorial!

Anyway, I believe I found the solution to your problem of WorldEd crashing.
In the Arcanum2.dat/terrain folder is the terrain.mes. Adding the necessary listings to it solved the crashing problem for me.
