While reading through the patch README file, I've stumbled upon the following line: "followers can no longer use spells in unidentified magick items nor will they use magick items that will fail due to the follower's high tech level Does this apply to wearing magic armor? If my higly tech character puts on a magickal Gnomish Chain mail, will this increase his chance of critical failure?
I'm not postive, but I think so. I remember being a tech person trying to use a Sword of Sickness and I was getting lots of critical failures.
too bad they didnt change it for highly magickal characters (virgil) and high tech-items (pyrotechnic axe) but anyway my answer would be yes, tech characters do get more critical failures when using strongly magickal items
No. No increased chance to crit fail when a techie wears mage armor or uses magic weapons. Just the usual no effect fron whatever is in ()s. My techies often wear magic grades of leather armor. Looks sharp. They also almost always carry magical backup weapons just for Ore Golems & other magical critters.
Good. I get to keep my Gnomish chain mail then. There isn't a better armor for archers and gunslingers- lighter than feather weight chain and with the same protection. And the Enchanted boots.
