I'm down for BNT. The only thing is, I couldn't find out much about the game. Bad layout. But, it's free, so what the hell.

Utopia sort of hinted on one of their pages that they might be going to a pay system soon, so that's a turn off. Maybe I read it wrong, but... eh. Why risk it?

The eDrugTrader one doesn't turn me on at all. On the front page, they listed what the going rates where for the eDrugs, and I just had to laugh. Crack was selling for $1,700 while cocaine was only $125? What the fuck? Ritalin, Ritalin was more expensive than coke! Weed was $750 while hash was only in the $100s! The kicker was that you could pay real life bucks to pump up your character. That was the deal breaker for me. If I'm gonna get my ass kicked by some guy, I want it to be because he's a loser and spends more time online than I do, not because he has more disposable income.

Anyway, I was browsing around on the TDZK boards, and it seems the situation isn't as dire as it sounds. I get the impression that the owners of the site are considering deals from other hosts as we... type. Read. Whatever. On one of the threads going there, more than a few hosts recommended where able to supply the bandwidth/transfer for the amount of money the owners were willing to spend ($300/month). So, hopefully TDZK will be back shortly.

You wanna sign up for BNT or wait a little while to see if TDZK comes back up?

I don't know. I'm still checking out BNT, cause I'm not sure what it's really all about.

For instance, on the first page, they list three different games. And sometimes it seems as though people are running their own versions of the game on, what? Private servers? Can you tell if BNT is one massive centralized universe where everyone plays? They really need to rethink their layout on this site...

I'll keep digging. But either way it's a free sign up, so even if TDZK comes back and we never touch our BNT accounts, what's the harm?

I registered for both BNT and IC, and both of them are really difficult to use, and keep crashing sporadically, as if they can't load up fast enough, or there is a memory leak somewhere.

IC is incredibly confusing, and it's way too involving for my liking - sort of like a really complex version of Imperium Galactica II!

And BNT just doesn't run properly on my machine for some reason! :(

I guess I'll just have to wait for TDZK to come back online.... :-?

Crashing? I doubt it has a memory leak unless it uses activeX or something. What browser are you using? If it isn't IE, maybe you should try disabling the DHTML from the options menu. In fact, you might want to try that anyway, and see if it stops the crashes.

    I'm running IE5.5.

How do you disable the DHTML? I can't see an option for it!

I still don't think I'll play them though - they both seem to complicated for my liking.

I've just started. It's a bit cryptic at first but easy enough when you get going. I'm basically just scanning and moving, looking for something to buy.

Disable DHTML from the options page (click the "options" link on the menu)

I still can't find that option - maybe it would help if I knew what that D stood for....

HAHA! So there are benefits in being Zallun! I love me. :)

That's my baby! :drools: I hope TDZK returns so I can build that dream ship one day

Although, I just costed the ship as a Derivian for $ 3,322,433,421
You reduce the number of manouvreability upgrades because of the 20 limit which saves money. Sure, it's a level 195 ship, but it still pacsk the same damage. Armour is reduced though :/. It'd cost 7 billion to upgrade it to the same level. Faster speed though.

I found this onw. In it, you pick races and you trade. Looks similar to TDZK. Looks VERY similar to TDZK. The move things, quadrants, sectors etc... Cargo holds... Its turn based. PHP based. I'm going to check this one to and get back to you.

After having to use my work e-mail to sign up... I found it confusing. I gave up after trying to figure out how to trade and played BNT.

    Black Nova Traders - http://blacknova.net/
Well, I've just finished my 2,500 turns with it (Automated trade routes, gotta love them!). Made $100 million and blew it all on my ship's hull (cargo holds). Not a very interesting game though. Seems to be diverse of players (ranged form 9 to 4 online while I was on). Everyone seems to have a planet. It doesn't seem to be that hard... Hell, if I can make $100 so quickly... Eh... Have to wait and see.

I did that, too, except I didn't get all through my turns. When you get to 15 or so hull, you're supposed to start arming up, I think. Although the "9 players online" thing made me wonder how I'd find someone to fight.

I liked the colony idea, kind of.
