I'm not sure if people look at your alliance size before determining whether to attack you, but in case they do, I have asked my brother and Lysa to join.

My brother likes these type of games anyway, so may play for real. He's played Arcanum, so it's not like he's completely out of it.

Lysa has posted on the board, so she's a bona fide TA:HoLer. She's also agreed to make us an Alliance tag.

Here's what to do, if you wanna join us and use some of the money we have to buy some upgrades for your ship. Before doing anything else:

• Read the help files on movement (and anything else you can force yourself to read).
• Navigate to sector 8207 and dock at the port
• Join our alliance, if you haven't done so. Phoenix will have to tell you how. I've never done it.
• Send me a message within the game. My ID# is 16048

At that point, I'll give you some money, explain how to upgrade your ship, and we'll get you to a safe place to do some trading. Trading is how you improve your pilot and money.

 

And if you need to know how to get to system 8000 just look at the galaxy map for it. I don't think it would be that hard. I hope its easy to get there from nexus though...

 

It is right next to nexus. Just check out the nexus system map for the right jump point.

I'm a member of the alliance, I'm level 5, bought a Resourcer and have about $ 3,600,000. What do you guys suggest I do next? Just keep running goodies between ports? Should I buy any weaponry/upgrades or should I save some more for a better ship?

 

Here's how I understand it from Ferret:

Until you're over level 20, you're only realistic option is to run away. Anyone high level players wanting to take you out will just do so anyway, so it isn't worth spending the extra money for weapons and armour. Your best defense is to not put yourself in situations where you will be killed (ie. don't hang around in space locations too long, and make sure you're in a level 6+ port before you log out). Even then, you'll get blown up every now and then.

Your best investment is cargo hold upgrades. Milo suggests (and it seems okay to me) that we keep our frigates and upgrade their holds to 750 capacity. Me, Milo and Lysa have already done that. I'll send you the money to do it. You'll need to get to a station that sells cargo hold upgrades. Check out the station list at this Maddox mirror site or just go to the one we've used at 8207

There is some discussion in the poo Alliance Forum about what we should do as an alliance. Check out the thread called "Missions" for a description of what I reckon we need to do in the immediate future.

Let me know when you're at a station and I'll send you the funds to improve your ship.

I've updated your thread about ship specs with a decent, but cheap and fast/maneuverable ship you can use to start off with.

It starts at 21 million, and is easily replacable, except the cloak if you want one - that'll cost you some turns to lower your alignment, and then get the cloak. You can always get a cloak at a later date though.

 

Thats the great thing about being a wraith. You have cloak on every single ship you have.

 

You'll find it extremely useful! Especially if you want to trade. Helps in combat too during later levels.
