The Game? Playstation 2's Final Fantasy XII.

These Challenges are designed for experienced players who have completed the game at least three times. From scratch. Although they may be attempted by novices, novices should be more interested in exploring the storyline than delving deep into the side areas of the game where it is hours or, in the extreme case(s), days before you advance the storyline.

It takes me about 100 hours on the Game Clock each time that I play; however, I have yet to defeat Omega Mark XII, which I would expect would at least double, if not triple, that. This form of play puts those hours at the earliest part of the game.

Other Possible Challenges before entering the Palace:
    • Bazaar Item: Potion Crate

What? To all of them? Which then begs for the question: Do you play? & If you do, how many hours do you log before you complete the game?

Fine Jojobonobo, I'll take your troll bait.
Final Fantasy VI is the best.

    Grakelin, no double-posts please.

I have to admit that I do not play this game and probably never will. Xyle, what makes these feats challenging, No. 1 for example?

Bazaar items only be available when you sell certain quantities of certain pieces of loot. To get the Cyprus Pole you need to sell a certain number of Bone Fragments (I can't remember how many, it may be five) plus a few other things. To get a Bone Fragment at that point in the game, you have to defeat High Level Rare Game that drops them at about 40% of the time, so not only do you have to done it once, you have to do it repeatedly. Also, that early in the game, the expected level you would be playing at is about level 5 to 10. When I finished that first challenge, my level was in the twenties and my game clock was past twenty hours.

Furthermore, Your weapons are too weak to go toe-to-toe with the rare game, so you have to develop your licensing board (this game's version of a level scheme) to unlock powerful attacks called quickenings. A single quickening isn't enough to take out high level game, so you have to chain them, to create concurrences. The stronger the concurrence the more difficult it is to create it.

That first bit sounds like a boring grind. A player would have to encounter a particular foe a certain number of times to guarantee the requisite number of an item drops. No thanks.

That second bit sounds like strategic meta-gaming that might exercise a player's skill. I don't know how the game works, but there might be a certain amount of grinding required to develop one's licensing board. Even so, if the combinations that can be linked are cool enough, this could be worthwhile.

I think Grakelin has missed a fundamental component of the "puppet account" technique.

Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite, though I don't know why. I can't come up with a single reason for it, it's just the one I had the most fun playing.

I preferred the battle system of FFX. (Turn-based, baby!)
I preferred the setting of FFIX.
I preferred the characters in FFVII.
I preferred the outfits in FFX-2.

Still, I would replay FF VIII over any of the others, if I had to.

Final Fantasy VII was the last good installment in the series, everything went downhill after that.

I appreciate what he is doing here and I find it funny that in one thread a few of you mentioned you would like this. Anyway I found 7 was the best of them. I liked the Balamb Garden in 8 so much that I rate that game simply for that. Never played 9 because I couldn't get into the main character being a furry. 10 was also good but that was the last one I played. X-2 killed final fantasy for me.
