Hello guys, I'm new here. Thought I'd share this problem and Hear advice from loving arcanum friends.

I'm having problems with my parents. They are ill-tempered and easy to be angered upon. Did little wrong and they'll get mad. One slip, and boom, they get angry. If you try to explain or defend yourself, you're wrong. I say more responsive answer. So when I get scolded, I'm just be prudent. But deep inside, really hurts. So When I have problems, I do not share with them because they'll just make me feel like I'm the worse person in the world. Then they will watch every move. It's as if they're watching me with scrutiny, ready to rain down judgment and the slightest mistake.

You have got to be kidding me. This is some kind of spammy joke right? Or is this forum really to be overrun by a bunch of whining brats who want to piss and moan about their parents?

    Do something mister... uh, Shalala.

Go find a shrink, ifyou don't want to, just obey your parents blindly and agree with everything they say.

Life will be much easier with them if you learn that you CAN'T discuss with your parents. That applies for most people.

Sorry, Shalala. Gross takes up all our sympathy. Move out or see a shrink.

This is probably not the best place to come for advice, but here is mine:

You can't change your parents, I'm afraid. That's just how it is. So my advice is to keep your head down and quietly live your life until you are old enough to get a job and move out. After that, they will no longer have control over you. It might seem like that's a long way off, but in terms of your overall life your childhood is actually quite short. So really, in the long term, your parents are not going to dominate your life. Just remember that when they are getting you down.

You have two parents?? You live with them for free??? And they both care about you, pressuring you to do your best?? You even want to talk to them about your problems?? They even care enough to argue with you through your teenaged excuses???

It's true what they say, youth is wasted on the young.

Sorry to hear about your tough situation, shalala. If nothing else helps, you might want to consider unbosoming yourself to the good-hearted people over here.

What is wrong with you people? Am I the only one sympathetic to the plight of this poor boy?

Or girl? Hmm... say shalala, if you want to get back at your parents you should send me some naked photos of yourself. That'll show them!

Anybody else find the wording suspicious? What language was it translated from?

I appreciate ytzk's perspective and am baffled at what search engine returned The House of Lords as a sanctuary of sympathy and sound advice.

My advice to you is to err as little as possible. While ytzk makes good points, it's important that in addition to being taken care of by one's parents that one also feels safe communicating with them. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that if your parents are not willing to listen to what you have to say there is nothing further you can do with them.

I suggest you talk to a school counselor about this issue.

Still just me? What I'd like to know is, why shalala specifically joined an English-speaking, Arcanum-related gaming forum to bring up the issue, and thought anyone would care about it here at all from a reading of any non-Grossean posts and replies, when there are plenty of topic-appropriate forums to join out there who have an honest desire to help people in such situations, possibly in his/her native tongue, too.

Expecting compassion because of common interests, I reckon. Which reminds me of the Gilbert Bates & the Black Mountain Clan situation...

Because I argue against and for things? It seems that the only way that would be possible is if I did point out what follows and, so, what doesn't - just like I did there; so mentioning that, to me, nothing ever seems to follow, is a self-defeating argument, if it means anything at all; so if you're going to derail another thread, make sure you actually have something to say.

You know, I think wayne has a form of synaesthesia. You know - that syndrome where people perceive colours as having a smell, or words as having a colour. Only in his version he perceives everything as a logic puzzle.

It's likely a prank but in the off chance it isn't, I've provided what I feel is valuable feedback. If it matters, the discussion will continue. If it doesn't, it may have already run out of steam.

Has anybody here played Age of Chaos? I haven't played in years. I thought about getting in on the next age, but ended up firing up a new Master of Magic "campaign" instead.
