What about Geoffrey Rush as Teach?
He did pretty good as Captain Barbossa.

    (Poor bastard's getting typecast....)

Actually, we ought to do Lewis Black as the Old Blind Master, and work that in somehow. ^__^ I would love to see him throw the aerial decapitator.

That would actually be pretty great.

"I don't care WHO you are!!"

    *GONG*

Someone would have to die at that point. A character noone really likes...or there could be a skillful dodge and a crazy fight, one that involves chicken heads flying all over the place. And the movie should be directed by Stephen Chow.

Fuck that! We need Robert Rodriguez to direct it! Oh, and if you want a beautiful example of his work, go watch Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Actually, go watch the whole series (El Mariachi, Desperado, OUTM). They're amazing movies.[/url]

Yeah but they're a little over-the-top for an Arcanum movie. Don't get me wrong, I love that trilogy, but I'm thinking something a little more adventurous over action-packed, gunz a blazin' -ish. But hopefully not something cheesey comic bookish like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen either.

IDK, this is a unique setting that will require a unique touch. Tim Burton maybe? Or am I thinking too mainstream? I think Burton has great vision of the Victorian era. Think Edward Scissorhands in a Sweeny Todd setting. Wait...I guess that basically was Sweeny Todd. Maybe more ES in Sleepy Hollow but set in downtown 1800's London (like Tarant)....dark, with alot of black humor.

Wtf is up with this cast? Is this supposed to be a comedy?

    Also, a few serious recommendations:
    Director - Peter Jackson
    Virgil - Sean Bean
    Kerghan - Christopher Lee

I've always thought of Arcanum as the first interactive movie ever. It'd be cool to do it as a "choose your own adventure" kind of movie, but unlike that series of books, you wouldn't die every five minutes, you'd just shape your character into a techie or a mage. Having both of them together kills my fantasy. But unfortunately, any movie is doomed unless it has a romantic plot.

And Liv Tyler would be good as Raven, if she could pull it off. It'd help her get rid of that sappy elf look she's got.

Just to make Vyenna happy, where to put Kate Beckinsale?

Kate should be Min Gorad instead of Knightley. Kiera is just too damn frail and soft looking, while Kate seriously looks the part of a woman who would kill you without a second thought. Don't get me wrong, they're both very attractive and Knightley may very well be a decent choice for the part, but Beckinsale sells that characterization in spades.
Besides, one of my friends was a black powder specialist for the second two Pirates movies, as well as an extra, and he confirms that Kiera Knightley is a bitch on set. Bitches don't belong on the set of Arcanum.
Now, despite the obvious problems with all of the big names we've chosen (that's a shit-ton of money), every single one of these people will have to play the game.

Dude, the movie would probably fund itself if we got the actors to agree, I mean look at the cast!

Johnny depp, Christopher walker, anthony hopkins, keira knightly and ARNOLD!? how is that not a bestseller I ask you?

    It's actually pretty easy;

This would be a movie based on a videogame. Some of these actors won't make a movie unless they're paid more than 10 million dollars. Both of those ideas together make funding an issue, which is why we need a killer script and great backing from powerful producers, and perhaps directors who are...good. So, noone who's directed any movie that came out last year or this year so far.

I've figured it out. He's a little on the old-side, but I know who's perfect for Virgil: David Bowie!!!

Actually, I think Tim Burton is a great director. I just wish that he hadn't directed the musical version of Sweeney Todd.
