I was doing some experimenting down in the Vendigroth ruins. When I entered the fourth level with my invisible character, I accidentally pressed on one of the automatons and my character picked it up. I then checked back in Tarant if the same glitch affected the arachnids, but without luck. However, (this might be somewhat far-fetched though) I noted in the monster.txt file two entries for both automatons and arachnids. Since there weren't any statistically differences between them, I wonder if the actual difference is that the entries apply to if you're able to pick up the critter or not (might make sense since there's only one entry for the medical one who is "lootable"). Could this be so? If, yes are there then any arachnids to be picked up (beside, the one(s) you create)?
Thats pretty interesting, unfortunatly I have no idea. I wonder if you can sneak up on one without invisibility.
That's a great find, adds very nicely to the roleplaying aspect. Was such possibility mentioned anywhere in the game ? Do they work like regular automatons when deployed ?
The automatons thingy is rather a bug. I doght the authors on purpose wold give the possibility of taking control of them while being invisible. They were there to be enemies, not free followers. I think the glitch worked fine also for the Iron Clan ones. They certainly do work like the ones you build yourself. The same stats, abilities, mechanics of working and all. It's just like the game "forgot" that there are other automatons than those you build and therefore made all automatons in the game fold when you click on them when they arent hostile. The arachnids don't seem to work that way, maybe because there is a place in the game when you can stand next to them while they stay neutral and the authors remembered about making them work normally, forgeting to do the same thing with the automatons.
