They had a thing in the newspaper a few years back showing that a fluorescent light bulb under those massive steel powerlines it lights up.
Didn't mythbuster had some experiment on that shit before? And didn't they come up with the results that they indeed gave ambient power to the surroundings but that it was practiclly useless?
i remember they did a show where they tried to get energy for free, but it was a big pain in the ass and not worth the hassle.
Yea, but that's because most of the shit you have in your garage isn't attuned to what they use in power lines. Mythbusters has a long history of testing answers to questions that any jackass with a background in high school physics could answer. if you calibrated the system you could likely yield FAR more energy.
That's why the show is so popular. It makes people feel smart by doing things they could've cobbled together, given a rudimentary and cursory knowledge of how to put things together and then blow them up. But, I'm pretty sure there aren't many other things that "vibrate" on the same frequency as high-voltage power lines. Or, there are, and the power companies keep them a highly guarded secret. Bah, whatever. Induction's easier.
