Does spam serve any purpose other than increasing your postings?

No, because nobody else really spams. Look at a thread where Wolfsbane is posting and see if every other post is a one-liner by him.

 

He reminds me of an early Nbrosz, without the wit.

 

On the contrary, most threads seem to degenerate into spam after about five-ten postings, or so it seems.

....Though Wolfie does like the one liners....

And when it comes to spamming... Well, that's just what I do. I just feel like adding a little post here and there from time to time, and what's wrong with that? I mean, at least our forum seems bloody active and stuff as long as somebody's posting here, eh?

He reminds me of an early Silvio Arjunza, except without the angst. Let's see (referring to bolded part) You've 991 posts, and you've been a member since November 11, 2005. You're averaging seven posts a day! That's not a "little bit here and there!" That's an assload daily! I don't mean to be mean, but you're filling this forum with one-liners. Don't post if all you're going to do is agree with the guy who just posted! Make sure that what you're saying is at least related to the topic, and if it'sn't, then make it funny!
