XP is my choice, never had much issues with it.

I remember 98 as always failing to reckognize my network card, thus needing drivers fed by floppies. It's basically a relict from the nostalgia era, I remember it well, but when I have to use it, all the details kick in and it ain't so nice anymore.

XP always picked up most of my hardware on install, also uses NTFS which means less running scandisk after deactivating the computer with my boot.

Then there's Ubuntu Linux, in theory nice if you don't play games, but in the end it requires a huge amount of fiddling to make it feel right.

Recently I'm just so damn lazy I even wrote my science project in notepad2 (a plugin for total commander), never bothered to reinstall the OS since I got my laptop and even used IE once... For 5mins, then got Opera. I want these 5mins back !

98 was better in its time than any of its successors were in theirs.

Currently using Linux Mint Daryna. By and large, it's a meh-ish experience. Works like a charm unless gaming is your thing. Thing is, I happen to like gaming.
