In Australia, a dog torture video shocks veteran officers who've had a career's worth of cases and charges before them. http://www.thedaily.com.au/news/2008/oct/22/horrifying-dog-torture-video-shocks-police/ I'm a dog lover...I want to seriously hurt the guys that did this.
I'm .... feeling a …..dire amount…. of rage… at the moment. I want those fucks! I want them in front of me!! Right now! Two years?! Bah! Those smegma covered rotting pieces of foreskin need to experience a bit more than two years in lock up!
Ah, the old moral question of animal cruelty. If you believe as I do that animals don't have souls, then technically, animal cruelty is only criminal in extreme cases like this where the intentional mistreatment of an animal is indicative of a twisted mind. Other cases, like processing animals for food, are not. After all, if it doesn't have a soul then whether it suffered in life or not, once it's dead, that's it.
I never understood how singular cases of animal cruelty cause so much outrage, but the murder of millions of people around the world results only in silence.
Ah, but animals are cute, thus it's so much more offensive if anyone mistreats them. Cute and helpless, the same mechanic that makes killing babies more evil then executing prisoners of war and hostages. Heck, if you'd launch two evenly advertised campaigns, one against the braking of the human rights in China, and another about how they mistreat dogs and cats, the latter one would be 10x more popular.
I think torturing and killing any living being for needless amusement is disgusting, regardless of the sentience (or lack thereof) of the victim. It's one thing to kill an animal for food - that's survival - but for sheer entertainment? It's fucked up. What these men did deserves a whole lot more than two years. It's fucking disgusting. That family is going to be fucked up for the rest of their lives, especially if any of them are children.
I've engaged is such a topic before in another forums, and I was titled cruel and I think a troll even, so I had to define what cruel meant and etc. Some people had sense though. You wouldn't believe what some of the animal-lovers said there. If anyone cares I'll provide a link to that thread (beware; it's long). It is true that I personally feel emotional distress when certain animals are harmed, but it isn't always about me, is it? Thus, I prioritize the welfare of humans infinitely above (other) animals.
http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/ser ... abuse.html I was just re-reading a bit of it there, and it contains my "kill all humans" belief. Still believe I was tolling everyone?
Well, I can definitely see where you're coming from. I don't agree with you, but I can absolutely see why you think the way you do. Your wording is sometimes unecessarily harsh, but hey, it's the internet. Sometimes it's hard to tell. As far as I can tell you don't actively advocate animal cruelty, and that will do for me. As a very wise man once said: 'I may not agree with what you say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it'. Of course, that also means that, should you post something bloody stupid, I'll feel free to tell you where to go. That's the wonderful thing about the Internet. It's one of the last true bastions of free speech in this world. (Having said which, there are some places on the internet that are models of thought police in action. Check out the way people on some fansites pounce on anyone who dares actually say that they think that Paolini's work is poor, it's frighteningly similar to Orwell's 1984 Big Brother.)
Reading to the end of that thread, it looks like I conceded defeat, but in such a playful way that I don't reckon that I actually did. Meh, it was a good way to end the thread. If you ever heard of the site "Nation States", well my nation is all about that: http://www.nationstates.net/12796/nation=garms
Well.....ah.....I guess I didn't just come home from killing kangaroos and rabbits for 3 days for pure entertainment.
There's a sense of familiarity as well. The average person hasn't ever met a poor Chinaman before, but when an adorable puppy JUST LIKE THEIR PRECIOUS SMOOGUMS gets skinned alive and then dropped into a vat of salt mixed with razor blades.........well, it seems closer to home for them.
Also, proximity. Horrible things are happing 'over there', but it's the things here that hit closer to home as well. @Telcontar: I guess so. I was looking for more things to bury in Xiao's front yard. There seems to be a nice flower bed that hasn't been touched yet.
Puppy, I wouldn't dig that up right now. There's the corpse of the last person to touch me when I didn't want to be touched buried there right now. I'm waiting for a good opportunity to toss the bones into the river.
