Chinese coins are exploding! The article talks of a child who received a 1 yuan coin and used it on a shitty mini-ride typically seen outside supermarkets. Upon putting the coin in the slot the thing exploded into many little pieces and left the boy with burns! The coin fragments were tested for volatile compounds but nothing was turned up, leading the government to suggest that electrical discharge alone caused it to react like that - obviously the truth. Apparently similar incidents have happened in 2008 and 2007 also involving electric discharge. What do you think - exploding coinage: the weapon of tomorrow?
That would take an electrical charge high enough to disrupt molecular cohesion in a damn solid - and not just any solid, a nickel-plated steel coin. But, if it's the news according to China, it must be true.
