Could someone from the United States with an account at an american e-mail provider other than the major free ones (gmail, hotmail, etc) make an account for me at wowio.com ? There are some ebooks I'd like to download ( http://www.coxandforkum.com/ ), but the fucktards felt it wasn't necessary to allow people from the middle of Europe to register.
You need an identifiable email account. If you want I'll let you borrow mine, shoot me an email: fernando.arrue07 I'M RICK JAMES BITCH @stjohns.edu
Frigo - I'd be willing to help, but this paragraph in the account terms* seems to say that I'd be wide-open for a lawsuit if I did. 2. License Restrictions and Confidentiality Obligations. Emails posted in forums = SPAM MAGNETS. At least try and hide them like: fernando dot no spam here please arrue07 atatat stjohns dot edu. ... or PM them. Otherwise spambots scouring the web shall find them and inundate with spam.
Maybe Blinky likes spam, ya ever think of that? He's getting his rocks off watch it all pile up in his inbox. XD
I receive spam in oodles. I just can't be bothered getting angry about it. Before I gave my inbox a much-needed pruning, I had 450+ unread messages in there, all spam.
When I had no internet for a month, I ended up garnering 1000+ spam messages...I quickly set up blocks when I came back and deleted everything. Big ass oops on my part.
I've been quite content to rely on the gmail spam filter for the last 2 years. In all that time only 1 message has made it into my inbox.
Doesn't anyone setup a decoy email strictly for drawing spam? I have 3 different email accounts: a comcast one for personal/family use, a yahoo account for forums, games, downloads, and porn sites that want me to register in order to use their...facilities, and one from work for, well, work related shit. It's comfotable knowing I can log in to my personal account and not worry about sifting through 100+ messages about shitty balls or lowering my mortgage since NO ONE but friends and family will ever see it. That's all in the yahoo account. About once a week I go in and purge it without even looking at a single message so it doesn't max out.
On a second thought, I don't like the idea of endangering any of you. Considering they check the validity of registrations more heavily than regular websites, I'm pretty sure they have additional checks and criteria to filter out fake accounts. The books aren't that important anyway, besides, they will be scattered all over the net in a few months.
Firstly, whyn't try and contact them about it? Explain who you are, where you are, and why you'd like it. Also, have you seen the device Amazon is selling? Kindle, I think it is? It comes with lots'n'lots of ebooks, and you can buy more, at like .99 a piece. Idk if it's available in Europe yet though... Consider checking for that?
Like DarkFool said, I think being upfront with them from the start would be the best bet. I mean, it's not like they would want to shun your business. Maybe they could suggest a workaround for you. Contact them and let them know of your situation.
I agree with Grimm's agreement with me. Also, here's a link to Kindle. It'sn't available outside the U.S. yet, but they sold out REALLY fast, so I'd guess that they'll probably expand their market overseas before the year's out.
