So, what happened yesterday?

Any info. on what exactly happened yesterday with the site going down? And why is the forum up, but terra-arcanum.com proper is still just a "placeholder for ensim.rackshack.net" ?

Edit: www.terra-arcanum.com is up now, but I'd still like to know what happened, just for curiosity's sake.

 

Not sure, but maybe it has something to do with Gamesquad "revamping" thier site...

Hel Khat's Revenge

Yes. My conspiracy theory, I'm sure has lept into everyone's mind by now, but I kind of doubt it's the case:

When I noticed all of TA was down, I immediately remembered that Hel Khat had been banned the day before, and now the next day the whole site has dissapeared. Coincidental, at the very least.

Keeping in mind that Hel Khat may not have the expertise to hack a site like this one, my conspiracy theory accomodated the possibility that our dear Hel Khat may have enlisted a friend to do it for him. But then I thought...Hel Khat...friends? Naaaaah.

So what really was the case? Jinxed? Calis? Anyone?

 

According to Calis on other sites, the Gamesquad server crashed (faulty hard drive, I think he said), so the site had to be recovered from back-ups and put onto another server. Calis sounded pretty impressed with Gamesquad's professionalism.

 

Which is good because if we were to rely on Calis' back-up frequency we would all be Untrained at best

Well, yeah. The server RPGCodex and Terra Arcanum were on, crashed. When it was brought back up it had stability issues and disk corruption problems, so they (Gamesquad) spent the next two days setting up both sites on a brand-new server with no loss of MySQL data (such as forum posts). So yeah, I'm impressed with their service. I barely had to do anything to get things back to normal.
