    Yes, Rolf Harris.

    Ew.

I'm just glad my grandma didn't live to see that; she revered him for some reason.

Personally, I always found him to be nearly as creepy as he has proven to be.

    Good morning.

I don't know, when I was a kid he seemed like a real grandfatherly figure - listen to his sincere friendly voice in this last bit of Animal Hospital for example. At least from when he started to live in the UK, he seemed to cultivate this veneer of wholesomeness which I guess in hindsight was just a front so he could molest children - having watched him growing up I find it pretty unnerving. He actually made a public awareness video of kids watching out for paedos, filmed after his first instance of paedophilia; it takes some big brass balls to do something like that - I guess it shows how confident he was that his past would never catch up with him, and what lengths he would go to so that he could seem like a good natured guy.

    Good evening.

All of a sudden, lots of people in my social media network are chiming in with their two cents on big game hunting. Did I miss something? When did this become the latest clicktivism issue?

    Good day.

It happened because a 19-year-old happened to pose with big game and Twitter has regular storms.

    Good day.

Seems like Smuel is on holidays, presumably having a good morning.

Does it really matter if I get to work or 6AM or 8AM? The good morning is too damn early.

As could be expected, Monty Python were excellent. They're broadcasting their last show in the UK and in a lot of cinemas worldwide so maybe most people will be able to watch it? If not, there's a DVD release November 10th - hopefully it'll be the one that had Stephen Fry as a guest star as opposed to the rather crappy Matt Lucas like I had.

Bottom of the evening to ya.

I've learnt today that they're making a PC game of Games Workshop's old gem Mordheim. It's going to have small unit tactics, RPG elements and presumably the ability to play a variety of groups of merry adventurers in a gothic fantasy setting - which sounds awesome.

    Good afternoon.

I wish Games Workshop would actually support skirmish games and not just push $100 sets for apocalypse games.

    Good afternoon.

Mordheim, is that the one based in the city? One of the few white dwarf mags I ever bought when I was young had a big write up about it first coming out. I always enjoyed the stories and artistic pictures. Didn't care about the figurines.

    Re:

Indeed it was! It was a game about the approach of a meteor, which many viewed as a divine sign and caused people to flock to the city. There was much drunken cavorting and merrymaking, but when the meteor hit it left the city a hellhole. The hellhole was however very profitable given the rare substance the meteor was made of - causing all kinds of unscrupulous sorts to flock to the city. All in all, if nothing else it was a great premise.

I agree, in fact I thought the whole point of Mordheim and Necromunda was to appeal to that demographic which didn't have the funds for a whole army (me and my family when we were growing up for example) - why they ever thought that was a stupid business model is beyond me. They've now stopped hosting rules for Mordheim on their website (maybe Necromunda, my lazy searching didn't extend that far) which seems stupid as they may as well host the rules as they still have relevant figures they can sell and make a profit on.

With regards to the PC game it's been described as the Warhammer XCOM - which sounds pretty awesome - but as far as I can find it's going to be the debut game made by that particular game company. I guess hopefully they'll have enough vision to make a go of it, playing a highly varied team-based fantasy RPG has a lot of potential in the right hands; also it'd be great to play a Games Workshop game without the physical ball-ache of buying figures, painting figures, making and painting scenery, learning the way too lengthy rules and - most importantly - finding some guy's mum's basement to play it in. I'm slightly worried that since the game's announcement earlier this year there hasn't been much news, which worries me that it might be shelved before it even gets very far into production.

However I'll try and stay optimistic, and keep an eye out for news. Good evening.

GW seems to have gotten it into their minds that the only way they can make money is create a game which requires the kind of investment you'd otherwise associate with cars and high-end computers. And it's not just the money that bothers me, it's the damn logistics of the thing. A 2000 point army isn't exactly easy to move around, the games themselves can take quite a long time to finish and what I'd like to see is a ruleset designed with, say, 500 point armies in mind. Sometimes a small skirmish game with an HQ, a squad of tactical marines and some scouts is all you want and need. Hell, they don't even need a new model range for it, they could use the existing 40k/WHFB model ranges and make a specialist game designed for small armies rather than the plastic legions that is the norm.

    Good evening.

And here I thought it was normal to have seven or so empty boxes for fishing equipment.
