I can remember the two seasons of that as well. It's one of the cartoons that does not have a happy end.

PS: In Amsterdam you have a big music store called Fame, where you can buy the most of these classic cartoons. In the store I bought the Transformers Season I for 24,99 Euro.

BTW: I removed the early post, because I thought it was not good enough.

That's good because I haven't been able to sleep since I read it. Now I may find peace.

DF: I was on GameFaqs and was wondering if you are the same DarkFool that did a FAQ on Cute Knight on items/recipe's?

This is the only place where I'm DarkFool. Everywhere else on the web I exist as Silvio/Salvatore/Silvio Arjunza/SArjunza.

Mumin is a Swedish/Finnish cartoon based on the work of Tove Jansson. The most interesting fact about it is that it was drawn by a japanese anime-studio, thus makng it an "anime" (the japanese artists, when interviewed, thought they were drawing hippos when in fact they were drawing Mumin-trolls).

For most of my life I thought they actually were hippos, with "Mumins" being their family name or something like that.

They really do look like hippos, don't they? Just like the Hattifnattar looks like something COMPLETELY different.

Mumin is awesome, if only for the Finnish dialect.

I also spent my childhood being afraid of Mårran.

You where not alone. Mårran is made of pure hatred, put together using complete darkness as glue.

Enlightenment ensues. Also, didn't one of the characters have a blunderbuss? I watched some on a bootleg tape when I was little and even with lingual barriers, I still knew what was going on. That kind of thing is too scarce.

I'm not afraid to admit that I surely did. I didn't know what the hell was it, which only made it more frightening. Those horror film makers should learn from Moomin that showing all of the information about the creature on the plate is not the recipe for scary.

Also, does Mårran/Mörkö mean anything in Swedish/Finnish? Because both the English Groke and Polish Buka doesn't seem to mean anything and I'm curious if it's anything more than choosing new names without meaning.

Alright, I've never seen the show, but the concept of a creature so lonely that it freezes and kills everything beneath it is terrifying.

Holy shit, that is scary. Even more so because it's not deliberate. *shiver*
