sinbad's ship, please help!

hey all, I just found this place yesterday and was so exited to use one of the mods that you all have made!!!
however, when i tried to play the game after installing one (sinbad's ship) my game no longer worked. i couldnt even start up. so all my saved games were lost. I had to uninstall. if you could please give detailed instructions for a green skinned moron like me, i would be utterly appreciative as i know nothing about programs or programming.

also, what is this car arcanum? id like to try it.
and do any of the mods change the ending at all?

And now, as it turns out, i cannot install it again because it says
error 1305 error reading from file:
d:\sierra\arcanum\arcanum2.dat. verify that the file exists and that you can access it


and every time i try to retry it say the same thing.
its not that you dont have sufficient disclaimers, just please, include a section from now on for instructions for newbies, because now apparently my computer wont take it. I have a useless game that i really liked that worked right before i tried your stuff.
once again, its entirely my fault for tampering with something i didnt completely understand, just please, make it easier to understand so that some other moron doesnt come in and ruin their game like i did.

Insert the install cd and when the window comes up select Repair and enter. Any problems with original Arcanum should be fixed.

A mod may not install correctly in Win XP because its a multiplayer program. You may need to manually move files to enable it to work. The readme with the map/mod should explain this. If the mod includes a new Arcanum dot exe then you must rename the old Arcanum dot exe to dot old or dot org. However in XP you must make all extensiions visable to do this. Otherwise you'll have two executables and the game will choke.
