i'd like to know if it's possible to attach scripts to my character, so he would
attack and cast spells automatically like followers do.

also knowing where the hell are followers' combat scripts stored would help

There are no scripts for follower combat. Follower behavior can be loosely set by ai_params.mes, located in the rules folder of Arcanum3.dat, but this has very little to do with actual combat. There is a <mod>/rules/gameia.mes version, but it doesn't work the way it says it does.

What exactly are you trying to do with the PC here?

sounds to me like he just wants to talk and when combat comes let the game play itself.

Well you attack automatically when attacked, so there shouldn't really be any issue with that

ye, that's right, but i'd like also auto spellcasting and detection of enemies for e.g. ranged combat

to see if it's possible ? imagine someone who hates hack-n-slash but loves
good story and dialogues and non-violent interactions with NPCs etc etc :)

Sorry, but it's not possible. Combat isn't controlled by in-game scripts, but by the game engine. Being able to attack automatically is likewise a game engine issue, not a scripting issue. In fact, the combat parameters you can assign to objects that are already NPCs are quite limited.

Combat isn't necessarily Arcanum's strong suit. However, you can't really edit it out. If you want to focus on the story, you can always just make a pure melee/dodge character, and take a nap during combat scenes.
