Ok, lets try again. I realize that my first post was TOO general and long-winded. Ok, one question at a time. Why can I not apprentice on anything right now? All the guardsmen in Shrouded Hills will tell me is that my skills "aren't refined enough" or "you don't have enough skill" How do I resolve this? [ This Message was edited by: bryant1380 on 2001-11-07 18:36 ]
you gain experience by killing and by finishing quests (that mostly involves killing) when you gain a level you gain a character point, you can increase your prim. stats like con, str. But you can also gain abilities like bow, or meele, and you need to choose that. at the character sheet. there 3 stats in skills aprentice expert and master. in arcanum, there is a few penalties in every skill like bow or firearms, the stats (expert apren. master) are there to take away the penalties e.g. When you start with one skill point with bow you get penalties for range, darkness and so on, with aprentice you don't get all the penalties.
Isn't there an auto-character point thing that you can turn on or off that automatically puts your points in whichever skill it chooses? I have mine turned on. Do I need to turn it off in order to distribute my character points?
exactemonto. that thing is crap. it's no rpg whatsover with it on. Auto level scheme it's name. TURN IT OFFFFF!!!
no not ramdom. You select autolevel necromancer. so the game outomaticly selects the stats toika thought would be good for a necro. But it totally ruins the game if you don't plan to play exactly as they wanted you to. If you distribute yourself, then you make decisions based on what you need
Hey, that's what we're here for. The auto-level schemes weren't a bad idea, they were meant for people who just wanted to play the game, and didn't want to make the agonising decisions of where to put their points next...hell, it takes me FOREVER to decide what to do with my character points...you only get 64 ot 65...
Dont fucken use that lame shit or I'll cut your throat open you lame motherfucker! You've just outstayed your welcome.
Settle down Ioo...deep breaths...okay... Now, I'm not saying I don't agree with you - auto-level schemes take the fun out of the game, and are only for use with followers in mods that you make )). Don't tear his head off about it though. He probably hasn't played many RPG's before...at least he chose a good one...give him that at least...
Sorry did I make you cry? About RPG's Arcanum is certianly not the one to start with I was thinking the same thing
