I have a newbie question. I am at level 7 with better tech than magic, but I don't seem to be able to use the schematics found in the game and how do we read those tech manuals? Any help would be apreciated.
When you click the little gear button on the bottom of the screen (it's down by the description window), it'll bring up your schematics. On the left side, there should be three buttons: The first button shows your learned schematics. These are the ones you "buy" with your character points. The second button shows your found schematics. These are the ones that you either buy or find. Click this one to build stuff from schematics that you found, like Pyro Axes or whatever. The third button is the Create button. This is the one you click to build the schematic that's onscreen. As for the tech manuals, you don't need to read them. They'll boost your aptitude in a given school as long as they are in your inventory. No need to actually "use" them. Each manual will boost your aptitude by your intelligence. So if you have INT=10, and you have three Electrical manuals on you, your electrical aptitude will go up by 30.
I just don't seem to do anything with found schematics. I right clicked on them and still nothing they are still there.
That's weird. Are you running a patched version of the game? Have you tried manually dragging the found schematics over to "hand" icon? Or by any chance, are you trying to "use" the schematic for Schrek's multibarreled pistol? That's one that can't be "used". As far as I know, it's just a quest item for the thieves underground. All the other schematics you find or buy should work normally.
If they are purple in shading, you haven't got the item(s) needed. If they are green you have them. You need two green items to create a "joining" of technologies. When you have two green shaded items, click the button with two arrows pointing in towards eachother. You will hear a sound FX denoting the merger (bubbles in the case of herbs etc, electric buzz in the case of tech gear, etc). Look in your inventory (or on the floor if your inventory is full) for the combined item(s)
