hi i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to

    1) add a couple of schematics
    2) edit your followers stats in the game file from the start rather than from some save game editor

ive used databuilder and ive got the schematic file in the rules folder, i know itll be roughly the same way you edit and add background options, which means adding/edting to 3 files

help appreciated, im kinda new to this

Welcome to the forum, Glabrezu, and I hope you're still checking back on this thread.

    1) In addition to the Rules/schematic.mes, you will also need the mes/schematic_text.mes to make new ones.

Only so far as you can use just about any text-editor to make changes to these files.

Ah, in the download section/Fan-created art is a schematic-making tutorial I made a while back. Thanks to not knowing about Artview until afterwards, the art creation part is a bit outdated but overall, the guide still has useful information on adding your own schematics.
Try it and if you need more help, just let me know.

    2) In the Rules folder of the highest .dat number you have is the ai_params.mes files. That's where you'll find the leveling stats for the various followers. Alter them carefully.
If you're looking to boost a follower from the very beginning, then you'll need to get into the main Arcanum map, find the follower and manually reset the level(s) you are wanting to change.

I'll help if I can, but I'm considerably better at the second method than the first.

    hey thanks for your reply
ive downloaded that file ive had a little look at it and it does seem a little like the background making, so i should be ok there

how would i find the the follower in the map file?
ive already tinkered with the ai_paramaters :)

hey nice work on the AWIP, well im guessing its you anyway by your name :p

oh one last thing, when im ingame and im buying in a shop, theres a picture of an oak axe handle, if you move the pointer over it the game crashes, i know whats doing it but dont know how to fix it
its the 15124 item (found it in www.gamefaq background-schematic file: {15124}{Oak Axe Handle}//REPLACE ME PLEASE!!!!
) editing , ive tried deleting it from invensource.mes file, but it still appears in game
how can i get rid of it for good (also tried changing the proto of it for the proper oak axe handle)

    thanks again :)

Glad to see you're still around.

    1) Here's a general listing of where to find the various followers:
    http://mikesrpgcenter.com/arcanum/npcs.html

Now keep in mind, only about half are found on the main map. The rest are on others, like the Bates Mansion interior for Chukka, The Void for Bane, Kraka-Tur, and Arronax, Qintarra for Raven. You get the picture.
Unpack the main Arcanum.dat to somewhere and that'll give you access to all the maps.
In the downloads section/Arcanum Modding/Arcanum Modding Resources you'll find Arcanum Locations. It gives the WorldEd locations of all the stock game towns and such. Or - you could simply use the Arcanum.dat/mes/gamearea.mes which also has the WorldEd coordinates.

    2) Guilty as charged. And thanks!

    3)
Other than thinking you have a bad install, I don't know what to tell you besides running the install disk on repair, emptying out your Arcanum/modules/Arcanum/maps folder and the Arcanum/data/proto folder, then starting a new game.

    4) Even removing the listing for an item won't do you any good if you've been to an area, seen the item, then saved. You need to check the inventory of a merchant you haven't talked to before or start a new game.
And emptying out the Arcanum/modules/Arcanum/maps folder before every test goes a long way toward making the changes visable.
