Today I've got Sacred:), it's released in Europe today, and I wanted to get atleast one game on it's release date before I die (go ahead kill me now before I try it).

My mother came home with it, after I had been at an optician(I'm getting lenses!), and as soon as we got home I oppened the box, and smelled the lovely plastic smell from the inside.

Right now I've put cd 1 (there are two cds) in the DVD drive (in the computer's cd drive some of my brother's cds are). The Autostart shows the wonderful picture you see at http://sacred-game.com/ , well it hasn't got the English and German flag on it and it's smaller, but otherwise it's the same.

The text in the picture says:

    Install

    Install DirectX 9
    View ReadMe
    Official Sacred Website
    Online Registration
    Ascaron Homepage
    Uninstall

    Exit

All the fonts are yellow except the one on install DirectX 9, and the one on Uninstall who are gray (maybe because I've nt installed Sacred yet, and already have DirectX 9).

Now I'm going to press the Install button, and see if it will blow up my computer.

Hey, cool man! Once you've gone through playing for a while, get your bum back here and tell me what you thought of it. I've considered getting my hands on Sacred, but with the premade characters and everything... I'd rather build them from scratch on my own, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I couldn't appreciate the game, granted it had other good points to compensate.

Besides, the Dark Elf character looks badass, as he should do. Nothing says pain more than dual axes. :minigun:

Well, now I've played through the first quest, which is walking down the stairs and talking to a lady, very difficult, since you have no dialogue options. I chose the Vampiress character, I wanted a sneak-peak at Troika's Vampire game, and she was doing fine. I fought some bad guys, and it was pretty hard, untill I realiced she could turn into a vampire and become much more powerfull. If anyone wonders, I think the Swedish version has gore:).

The intro movie were pretty good looking, but nothing special, it looked to blurry in the edges of objects. It began with some cute green gnomes, or somthing, who were putting glowing sand into a pentagram with to many corners, didn't have time to count them.

Then an ugly nude guy entered carying a book to an old desk, and behind him came a dark elf, I think, he had dark hair, but no pointy ears. He started summoning a demon, who in the beginning looked like a minotaur, but the gnomes missed a part in the pentagram (that wasn't really a pentagram) so the demon got angry and broke free, and killed the summoner.

Now I better get back to playing, otherwise I will never finish the game:)

Why does this sound like completely recycled Salvatore garbage? Oh well, the game still looks fun! Graphics are great in the screen shots, especially for an RPG. I think the only game I've ever gotten on the release date was Diablo 2, and that wasn't exactly worth it... I mean, 65 dollars? I could have waited 4 weeks and gotten it for less. May be not, but oh well. I now make it a policy to wait at least 2 months before I get a game, so the price will go down and the patches will be available.

The game is going pretty well, I'm level 7 now, and just about to leave the demo area. One bad thing with the Vampiress is that you have to use a special ability to turn her to a vampire. I got the impression that it would happen automaticly in the night, and in the morning she would turn back.

Iäm playing on the silver level, it's the hardest one you don't have to unlock, and the first fight were hard, but since then it's been a bit too easy. I think the premade characters are good, not as good as they would be if you made them yourself, but they all seem to be very different, and they don't have the usual names.

Plus they start out in different places, taking the TOEE vignettes one small step further, since the only difference I've noticed is the first quest, then it becomes the same game.

Another thing that annoyed me (I notice more of the bad things) is that the vampiress, when presenting herself, she said something like:

"I'm the Vampiress, I'm noth a warrior and a knight, during the day she
    turns to her human form
    "

The voice actor, or writer seemed to forget she began talking about herself.

I recomend this game to you, it's not as fast as Diablo 2, since you don't have to click everytime you want to attack an enemy. And it has some nice graphics when zoomed out, if you zoom in you'll probably see the pixels on houses and trees.

The manual isn't very good, it's informative, but certainly not Troika style. It mostly describes the interface, with too little bacckground story, often jumping "out of character" when describing something.

Well I have had fun the hours I've played it, and will probably have for fun later today, but now I have to go to bed. :)

    Good Night.[/b]

I want to get this game, but I'm not sure when it's coming out in Oz, nor what version (gore or non-gore) we'll be getting. If it wasn't for the US kicking up a stink, there'd be gore for everyone.

After three days it's still looking good, it's definently not heavy on roleplaying, and pretty linear, you should follow the roads and not explore areas or dungeons before you get a quest about it, but it's definently bigger and less linear than Diablo 2 for example.

The first of April it's due out in here in OZ Mr Bink's, I know this because I put a copy on reserve for my grubby little paws.
Less linear then D2?, that's not saying much.

I don't know any other game to compare the linearity to. The game seems to prefer that I explore in a certain order, but I can do quests in any order I want to.

In Diablo you could atleast explore a dungeon beginning with different parts, so it's not completely linear. :)

What do you mean, the US? We have the goriest games on the market. Britain and other countries (including Australia) have banned many violent games, not the USA. Very few games were actually banned here. One of them being Custer's Revenge, which, although hilarious in concept, definitely deserved it. It involved running across a desert as a naked, erect Custer, avoiding Indian arrows. At the other side of the desert was a naked Indian woman tied to a pole, and the ultimate goal was to have Custer rape her. Funny, especially with the 8-bit graphics, but very, very bad.

I mean that the US is getting the non-gore version of the game, and that it was specifically made for them.

And yes, Australia has banned many games, but it wasn't for graphic violence (in most cases) but rather the concept behind the games and the possible actions you could take.

From what I've heard, it doesn't make a difference to gameplay, and most people don't notice it after a while. Sure, you won't have the satisfaction of seeing the blood spill, but you actually get to play the game. My local EB doesn't even know when it's coming.

Still, I hate censorship and censored versions of products. Give me what the creator originally intended, commies!

Pleased I am to live in a country were censoring such as that is almost unheard of. In fact, I can't think of a game in the recent years that has been banned or remade because of "offensive material".

    Weak-spined Americans... :p

I didn't bother reading that, but if it's anything like what they did with GTA 3 here, there's a simple flag in the registry you can change and gore would be enabled. Probably the best and easiest solution to implement.

LOL, there was no "gore" in gta3.

What did that button do? You could still beat a hooker to death with a bat after fucking her to get your money back, but there was no fake blood?

There's a no gore option in GTA3? Since when? Are you sure that isn't an Australian specialty?
